Fear Not!

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Lk. 12:32)

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim. 1:7)

Fear Not! That’s not just my thought – its the exhortation of God’s Word! And why? Because it is Your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom… to make sure you are walking in Kingdom Promises and Kingdom Favor all the days of your life. We must break the spirit of fear and free ourselves from the lies that the devil throws at our minds. Fear is nothing more than false evidence appearing real… its the stuff of death. But God offers a reality that carries the Blessing of Life!

In the scientific world, fear carries the lowest frequency and love carries the highest. Love creates atmospheres of health, strength, vitality, and positive outcomes while fear creates atmospheres of depressions, unbelief, sickness, and negative outcomes.

Jesus clearly taught us to “Fear Not”. Faith works through love (Gal. 5:6). No wonder Jesus left us with only 2 commandments: to Love God and to love others as ourselves. All the commandments are fulfilled in this… that you love one another.

The Time is Now!

Examine your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of fear. Repent from fear, turn away from it, renounce it wherever it shows up in your life – and receive love in its place. When you realize that God loves you and will always do what is good for you, it immediately removes the fear and releases faith that works through love.

I want to challenge you… in fact I want to challenge myself to awaken love like never before. Create a love atmosphere in your life for 2014.

Recognize the benefits of loving those who persecute you and mistreat you. Begin to renounce any specific fear that you identify and replace with love thoughts… and faith decrees from the “Love Chapter” (1 Cor. 13). Let’s agree together for complete deliverance and awakening of a love walk, filled with faith for 2014. You will be delivered from fear and transformed by love. Its the greatest power in the universe!

I believe what the Bible says… “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” (1 Jn. 4:18)

‘Tis the Season

Recently Ron was traveling to Africa and because of difficult weather missed his connecting flight in Chicago.  Here is the testimony of that missed flight.

While Ron was waiting in line at the ticket counter for his stand by ticket, a gentleman from Malaysia was in front of him and a business man from India was behind him.  So, the gentleman from Malaysia gets his standby ticket, and then Ron approached the counter and received his.  After Ron received his ticket the gentleman from the Malaysia approached him and began to ask what Ron does for a living.  Ron shared that he is in the process of starting several Bible Colleges.  The man started asking several questions and Ron finally asked if the man knew Jesus.  The man from Malaysia shared that he did not.  Ron began to share the “Good News” to this man of how Jesus died for him and that God really loves him. About this time the business man from India walks over and is apparently a pretty on fire Christian because he begins “amening” and agreeing with Ron.  (They must have been a little noisy because the ticket agent asked them to move away from her desk.)  So, Ron and these 2 men hold hands and they begin praying with this man from Malaysia and leading him to the Lord.  At the end of the prayer Ron begins to share with this man that God not only loves him, but likes him and to look for God’s favor in his life.  Right at that moment the ticket agent calls the name of this man from Malaysia and tell him that he has a ticket!  Ron rejoices with him and reminds him of the fact that this is truly God showing him how he is loved.

After this the man from India begins to ask Ron questions about “the Kingdom of God” and also “getting into His glory”.   So, Ron starts to share with him 2 of his favorite topics…..Increasing the Kingdom” and “Getting in to the Glory”.   Soon around 6-7 other people begin to gather around to hear the messages and ask Ron questions.  So there he was in the airport terminal 4th on standby preaching! About that time the ticket agent called the name of the business man from India and he boarded the plane.  Soon after Ron’s name was called.  Ron gets in his seat and after a few minutes a lady approaches Ron and informs him that he is in her seat.  Ron got the attention of a flight attendant and told her that the seat was double booked and that perhaps he should get off the plane because he was on standby.  The flight attendant asked Ron to wait a few minutes.  A few minutes later another attendant approaches Ron and asked him to follow him.  Ron followed him to the 5th row of the plane!!  That’s right an upgrade!!!  He looks over and sees that the person next to him is……the business man from India!!!  The business man asked Ron to continue with the messages he was listening to in the airport because he was so hungry to hear more.  So, Ron shared with him for many hours and then told him that he was going to read a bit and then go to sleep.  Once Ron was ready to go to sleep the business man asked Ron if he could read his book.  It was “The Supernatural Power of a Transformed Mind” by Bill Johnson.  Ron slept and the business man read the whole book throughout the flight!

Not only is this a great testimony, it also was a great reminder to me to be “ready in season and out”.

Preach the Word! Be ready in Season and out of Season.                             2 Timothy 4:2

There needs to be so much that God has deposited in us that when God opens the doors we are ready to share what we have “seen and heard”.  Ron did not have time to study and come up with a great message to share with the people at the airport, it was already in him.

I want to be ready no matter what the season!

The Prophetic Church

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.” (Acts 2:17-18)

God was speaking! New Testament Prophetic Ministry shaped the environment and relational culture of the Church, because God is passionate about communicating. The Church’s foundation was laid in the midst of an outpouring that would bear the evidence of a prophetic awakening. He wants us to hear His Voice! No question about it… when you look closely at the Early Church; you see the finger print of the Holy Spirit and the leaders leaning intently upon every word that proceeded from the mouth of God. Should it really be any different today?

Every congregation’s experience was a little different. There was a uniqueness in expression seen among the churches of the New Testament. Consider the different applications of prophecy and prophetic ministry in the following list:

  • The Jerusalem Church had a company of prophets, some of whom traveled, ministering prophetically. (Acts 11:27, Acts 15:32, Acts 21:10) The Prophet Agabus was one of this company. (Acts 11:27-28)
  • In Acts 9, God gives Ananias, who is from the Church in Damascus, prophetic insight into the calling on Saul (later Paul). Its interesting to note that Ananias is not a Prophet, simply a ‘disciple’.
  • In Acts 4, the Jerusalem Church gathers to pray. They are united, praying the purposes of God and boldness against threats that were emerging… a prophetic prayer that God answers.
  • The Church in Phillipi was birthed through prophetic guidance. God gave the Apostle Paul a prophetic dream concerning his team’s immediate call to Macedonia. (Acts 16:9)
  • Prophetic guidance was used of God in evangelism, missionary endeavors and the establishment of new churches. (Acts 8:26, 10:9-23, 13:1-3, 16:9-10)
  • Prophets were included in the leadership team of the Church in Antioch. (Acts 13:1) They received revelation from the Holy Spirit when it was time to release Paul and Barnabas into their apostolic calling. This prophetic guidance launched Paul’s Apostolic church-planting ministry.
  • When the Apostle Paul visited the Church at Ephesus, the believers received the Holy Spirit. Each one of them prophesied as they were filled. (Acts 19:6)
  • In the Church in Thessalonica the Apostle Paul exhorted the believers not to quench the Spirit, and not to despise prophecy. (1 Thess. 5:19-20)
  • In the Church in Colossae the Apostle Paul encouraged believers to include prophetic or spiritual songs in their gatherings… there was a value placed upon songs directly given by the Holy Spirit! (Col. 3:16)
  • Among the Roman Christians the Apostle Paul called believers to embrace and use the gifts given by God to serve the body, including the gift of prophecy. (Rom. 12:5-8)
  • In the Church in Corinth the Apostle Paul instructs in the use of spiritual gifts in their gatherings, with particular emphasis on the gift of prophecy. He encourages every member to eagerly seek the gift of prophecy. (1 Cor. 14:1)
  • The Apostle Paul reminds his “son”, Timothy of personal prophecies received during his commissioning from the church elders. (1 Tim. 4:14) This may have been at his sending Church in Lystra. (Acts 16:1-2)

No “One Size Fits All” Approach:

Some churches sent itinerant prophetic ministers; others received them. Some churches, such as in Corinth; placed a high value upon prophetic gifts and ministry. However, there does not seem to be a standard or uniform approach to prophetic ministry in the early church. Leaders were open to prophetic revelation, but did not rely on it all the time. It was initiated by God and resulted from their relationship with the Holy Spirit.

So what does this mean for us today?

For those of us who are gifted in prophecy, it means not placing expectations on our local church leaders on what particular expressions of prophetic ministry should be operating in our church or meetings. Being prophetic is not about performance, but following the Holy Spirit’s unique direction for our church. For those who lead ministries and churches, it encourages us to have the freedom to explore our own unique expression of prophetic ministry. And most of all – to appreciate and rejoice in the fresh flow of creative expression, as God’s heart is revealed to the Body of Christ.

Releasing Revival in East Africa

I want to ask our readers to pray with us about my upcoming trip into the nation of Kenya. I leave today to speak for a Conference (Dec. 12-15) in Eldoret under the leadership of Pastor Lucas Maina. You might recall his testimony of three years ago hearing me preach, receiving prayer and God turned his ministry upside-down… his congregation grew from 30 to over 1000 people in just this short time. But better yet, almost all of this growth was due to door to door evangelism… new converts! God totally transformed Pastor Mainas’ vision for ministry. He once believed he was the builder of his church, but now he has learned to let go and allow Jesus to build the Church and Lucas is busy advancing the Kingdom, one soul at a time.

I believe it is time to give the nation of Kenya to God!

God is Speaking – A Now Word:

Last week I had a vision of angels carrying torches and lighting the fires of revival in many places across the nations of Africa and on into the world. I believe it is time to pray and cry out to God for revival fires in every city and every hungry heart across the Earth. Yet as I go into the Continent of Africa and step onto soil that is rich with prophetic history – I am struck by the sensation that the time is Now! These are days of great expectation in every nation I enter.

Pray for Fresh Fire:

May the Lord kindle fresh fire upon us individually, on our churches, and in the nations. May the former days of outpouring be eclipsed by what God does in our time… and with our voices. Let us lay hold of our future and not let go until the Lord gives us His supernatural fire. Let us push back the spirits of apathy, unbelief, witchcraft, and religion and release the fire of God’s Spirit. We are seeing a release of signs and wonders, and healing miracles out in the bush, among the gathering villagers in churches and cities. Its now – that we begin to stretch forth the nets and offer God the bountiful gift of a harvest of souls from East Africa. Let us claim entire tribes, families and cultures for the Kingdom of God. May that fire kindle a new call to missions and a fresh energy for the work that they are doing.

Cry out with us here at RevivalHut Ministries, for visitation and fresh fire in our day in the nations of East Africa. So many are giving their lives, their finances and their voice to the work… and although God will spend His best for the least, nothing is wasted when placed in His hands! We still believe in the original blue print – and the power of the Holy Spirit!

Zech. 4:6 “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.”

Acts 2:2-4, “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Ps. 90:16, “Let us see your miracles again; let our children see Your glory at work.”

And all the Saints said – AMEN!

Roots by the River

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green; and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.” (Jer. 17:7-8)

This river is a fascinating and powerful theme that we see running throughout all of Scripture, from the opening chapters of Genesis to the last chapter of Revelation. Beginning in Genesis 2: 8 we get the first picture of this river. The Scripture says, “The Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the East [this is Paradise on earth] and there He put the man whom He had formed. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden.” When we get to Revelation, we see that tree of life again. This river that flowed out of Eden was designed to water the garden, and it divided to become four rivers that would flow throughout this entire region of the earth.

So, in the Garden of Eden, God creates this river to make a Paradise for man, lush and beautiful, and fruitful. As we see it running through Scripture, it is a picture of God’s Presence and God’s Glory for the sustaining of blessing and abundance.

It’s interesting that we read, “Our God is our refuge and strength… therefore we will not fear… there is a river [singular] whose streams [plural] make glad the city of God” (Ps. 46:1-4). So that is the river of God, a river of God’s provision, a river of His Presence that flows out from His heart and into every part of the City of God, reaching the People of God. The Church, established by Jesus Christ receives its resources by having its roots by the river. It flows out to where you live, to where your family calls home and your community rests secure. One river, that’s the Presence of God; but then it divides, distributes, and flows out to all the places in need of refreshing.

  • To the family who lives out in the cornfields of Iowa, the river of God has a stream that goes out there.
  • To the man who works on the stock exchange in New York City, the river of God is flowing there also.
  • To the woman who longs for more in the slums of Calcutta, the river of God has made a path.
  • To the child who waits in darkness along the streets of Kampala, the river of God is winding through the shadows.

Spreading out the Roots:

We read in Psalm 1 a description of the man who delights or spreads out his roots; in the law of the Lord… meditating, listening and embracing God’s voice. It says, “He’s like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers” (Ps. 1:3). Here we see the refreshing, life-giving supply of God’s River that comes to the thirsty. How? …through His Word. Through meditating day and night on the Word of God, the Holy Spirit begins to flow. That is how you get the river to flow and bring refreshing to all the dryness of life.

“They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house. And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures (delights). For with You is the fountain of life. In Your light, we see light.” (Ps. 36:8-9)

“You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water… You water its ridges abundantly, You settle its furrows, You make it soft with showers, and You bless its growth” (Ps. 65:9-10)

Abundance:

These verses speak of an abundant supply, a sufficient supply of God’s grace and precious resources. Sometimes we feel like the river of God is just a little, tiny trickle running through our lives. Sometimes we have even felt as though the river has run dry, because we have found ourselves in drought, barren and weak. But, we must go to the Scripture and be reminded that God gives us abundance, as we drink from the river of His delights. With Him is the fountain of life… and there is no dryness there! Meditate upon these words… God visits the earth and waters it; He greatly enriches it and this river of God is full of water – for your soul!

Listen, I’ve got some desperate circumstances in my life right now, and some of you do, too. I want you to know, there’s no lack to the river of God. Its full. Its always full. Its full when I’m empty. Its full when I run dry. Its available and flowing with fresh resource. And that river of God can run through my life by faith every time I have a need… if I will just set my roots by the river.

God is saying, “You want to be fruitful? You want to avoid spiritual barrenness? Then get planted by the river. Set your roots by the river of God!”
