Sudden Breakthrough

Scripture: “Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Mt 11:28-30)

Thought for Today: “Releasing Suddenlies”

Every person I know needs a breakthrough in some area of their life. I am no exception. I need breakthroughs all the time. I find myself stuck or tempted, confused or confined and in need of wisdom and revelation. The challenge for most of us is that getting a breakthrough means changing how we see. I often hear people say, ”You might have to get serious about spiritual disciplines if you want to see any impact in your life”. What I would like to propose is that the key to getting your breakthrough is more about striving for rest, than fighting for your life (Heb 4:9). Jesus said, “Come to Me… and I will give you rest. Take My yoke… learn from Me… and you will find rest for your souls.” The key is to stop relying on your own understanding (Prov. 3:5-10)

Trust God!

What I have seen repeatedly through the years in Scripture, personal experience and the testimony of others, is that prayer and fasting produces great spiritual results. Yet those results were tied to trusting God. When we give ourselves to intense seasons of seeking, we must lean on Jesus, the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the counsel of God’s Word. God is always up to something and your breakthrough is on His mind… in fact, He wants it more than you do!

Enter In:

I want to encourage you to stop leaning on your own understanding. You might never discover how problems or difficulties will be resolved in your life. Try to enter a season of rest. Go to the Throne of Grace and let God love you. Let His mercy pour out upon your heart and just soak it in… stay there and begin to enjoy His Presence. Let Him wash away your worry, cleanse you of all fear and wrestling. Now simply direct your trust toward Him… speak it out. Tell Him that you love the way He meets your needs and praise Him in this moment in the midst of all that is going on around you.

Suddenlies will Begin:

Then… what was offering no impact, suddenly does. What was making no difference, suddenly will. That unwanted situation or mountain that stood in the way, suddenly is removed. The relationship that was broken, suddenly gets restored. The pain in your body, suddenly is healed. The job that hadn’t come through, suddenly opens up. Suddenlies are God’s specialty!

The Reward of Seeking: Believe that God is the “Rewarder” of those who diligently seek Him. (Heb. 11:6)

Its the anointing that breaks the yoke (Isa 10:27), but it must settle in on us. Its God’s power that releases the suddenlies in our lives (Acts 2:2). Those miracles, the breakthroughs and the revelation of purpose, did not show up simply because we got the words right in our prayers last night. It was because God moved on our behalf. We sought Him in a season of prayer and fasting – yes, but it was God who showed up, brought the breakthrough and the suddenly you needed.

“Let us therefore come boldly to the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb 4:16)

Fully Persuaded

“Being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised.” (Rom. 4:21)

This is an exciting time for many as change brings new opportunities and a fresh season in God. Our energy and sense of purpose are intensified when we feel like God is handing us a new assignment… often it feels refreshing. Yet – I want to encourage you… set your face like flint and be fully persuaded in your “promise”. You need to understand that as you are moving into new places, new levels of conscious decisions are required. God says, “All things become new”. Not all that you have understood up to this point will be of value in the next season and not everyone will share your new found joy. Some of your former mentalities and relationships might even try to oppose or stop you if they can!

Leaning on Others:

As we are serving the Lord in our daily assignments, ministries and lifestyle choices, we have learned to lean upon others and others learn to depend on us and watch us as we move forward. They’ve learned to depend on our character and become comfortable with how we work or how we respond to life in transition. Something is always changing, but in Christ all things are established for our peace and consistent increase. Beyond the expectations of others, is the Highest Calling we know – to lean on God! In effect, we can bless others more when we bear evidence of a life that is fully persuaded by what God is saying… fully persuaded by what God is doing… and even fully persuaded when we are unaware of where it will lead us! I often have to remind myself to never set my heart by the opinions of man.

Move in the “Now”:

When the time comes for a change many find it hard to believe that it is the will of God for you and they may even speak against it. Those who do not speak faith words are not to be listened to. You are wise to surround yourself with people who pray and find their greatest hope in God. They believe in your success and pull blessing into your path. Every time they speak your name in the Throne Room of Heaven, something is happening for your good in God’s purpose. It’s at this point that you will discover who is on the Lord’s side! Lean forward into your “now” moment and allow the momentum of grace to shift your thinking and your living. You have never been here before and you will only know the direction by hearing God’s Voice.

I say: BE FULLY PERSUADED and HOLD YOUR COURSE – for the Lord is calling you up and out to a new place where He can enlarge your influence! (Mic. 2:13) Your King, Jesus will pass before you!

Jacob’s Well

“If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink’, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” (Jn. 4:10)

There is something wonderful and compelling in this invitation by Jesus. His encounter with a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s Well carries with it one profound timeless truth – the gift of God is “living water”.

Thirsty People:

I have found myself imagining this story; as so many, searching and thirsting from one broken source of hope to another, only to find that ignorance is not bliss. This woman’s ignorance of truth left her in bondage and prevented her from finding her way. She was more aware of her religious values than her moral conduct… in other words she was lost.

Her story is being repeated a billion times over in our world today. Tragic and unnecessary… thirsty people. Yet the ultimate challenge for the Church today, is to instill a vision of a Kingdom Culture that is deep and lasting. You and I are called to be a life giving stream from the well of living water.

Hear that Again: “A life giving stream from the well of living water.”

Let’s understand that meeting at Jacob’s Well is no guarantee that you and I can deliver the same message that Jesus gave her. We can talk a good talk and even shout and dance with the best of intentions, but to deliver and impart to others requires an anointing from the Holy Spirit. We need a touch from God.

Let the Rivers Flow:

There is Good News, however - if we are drinking of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:12-13) and overflowing with the life that Jesus promised, then out of our bellies will flow rivers of living water (Jn. 7:37-39). So jump in and go deep… let the rivers flow!

You must drink deeply from the well to produce the kind of joy the world needs to see!

That Same Anointing

“Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God.” (2 Cor. 1:21)

Carrying the same “Christ Anointing” is the spiritual reality of what being a Christian is all about! We should be familiar with how the anointing fits upon our lives and carry it faithfully everywhere we go! It is the Holy Spirit’s power poured out (Acts 1:8) that breaks yokes (Isa 10:27) and destroys the works of the devil (1 Jn 3:8). Yet this will require a lifestyle of reaching forward consistently for more of Christ.

What to Expect:

Its not information, but power… life transforming power. Its not inspiration, its pure spiritual strength. Its not desperate, its a supernatural walk of faith. We trust in God who still does miracles, so we must move with authority and confidence in God’s will. We are not working out our religious service, we are reaching forward to carry something that rests upon us… just as it rested upon Jesus (Jn 14:12). It will feel like a readiness on the inside and a sense of purpose on the outside.

Revival Fire:

The flame that burns within our heart is fueled by that which we see through the eyes of faith. We are reaching and gaining a more excellent prize than gold or human favor. In carrying the prize, we must guard ourselves from the love of selfish ambition and people pleasing. Our reaching forward is to lay hold of Christ…

He is the Desire of the Nations (Hag 2:7)
…and the Hope of Glory (Col 1:27).

Restoring Purpose

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jer. 29:11)

What is defining your life? Are you positioned to fulfill your greatest purpose and could you reach your destiny from this place… at this time? Perhaps you are far from where you hope to be. Its okay to have seasons of uncertainty, but to have no sense of direction is a very dangerous place to find yourself.

Take a moment and imagine yourself from God’s perspective. God has thoughts about you… He has made Himself available and torn down the walls of separation between His love and your heart. He has a plan for good that should never be missed through ignorance or selfish ambition. The purpose of God is always for your good, your peace and your victory in life.

If your dreams have been stolen or your goals have drifted off course, then you must make every effort to hear the promise of God… “I will restore to you the years that the locust have eaten” (Joel 2:25).

What is God Doing!

I believe God is restoring purpose in these days! Now is the time to ask the Lord to release the winds of change over your life… to clarify your focus and shift you back on track with your destiny in Him. Its well within the reach of your voice, but you must call upon Him for the shift to occur (Jer. 33:3).

The primary reason we must call upon God is because we need to be able to see spiritually! So much of life is hidden and difficult to understand… we are limited by experiences, hindrances, selfish ambition and trauma.

Jesus said to Saul of Tarsus, on the road to Damascus “its hard for you to kick against the goads” (Acts 9:5).

A Better Plan!

What He was trying to tell this confused and misguided man (a persecutor of the early church) “Stop this foolishness… cause I have a better plan for your life”. Jesus was calling out to Saul to become the Apostle to the entire Gentile World. Notice, Jesus took the initiative, because experience was leading Saul more off course all the time. Restoration is a process of recovering Kingdom purpose! Hearing the voice of Jesus really matters… because when God’s thoughts are understood, than we begin to see spiritually!

This same person would later write, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” (Phil 4:13).
