Real Anointing

“Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God,” (2 Cor 1:21)

No question, it is God who anoints us with the Holy Spirit and establishes us together as ministers of the Gospel. We have been set apart with an incredible calling. We all have a ministry; for some its hospitality, for others intercession or evangelism… yet for every one of us there is an anointing that accompanies the gift and makes it effective in the world around us. God is dreaming big dreams and asking us to partner with Him in fulfilling His purpose upon the Earth.

Obeying God puts a demand upon our lives.

We must break out of small places and small thinking. The Prophet Zechariah said, “Not by might, nor by power; but by My Spirit says the Lord of Hosts” (Zech 4:6). This amazing declaration gets to the point… the impossible can only be accomplished by the Spirit of the Lord. Yet God does it through the human instrument, frail and incapable. God anoints and commissions His Child with the Holy Spirit and power.

“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you shall be witnesses to Me… to the end of the Earth.” (Acts 1:8)

If we aim to carry the real anointing of the Holy Spirit, we must recognize the fact that God is not looking for talent or skills. He is looking for those who have made themselves available to be entrusted with the eternal message of Christ… “the Anointed One”. He is looking for someone He can wear like a glove and use to demonstrate His glory.

Bringing Heaven & Disarming Hell

When we posture ourselves correctly before God, we bring Heaven to Earth & disarm hell’s influence.

In the Old Testament whenever worship is mentioned it had a connection to posture as much or more than activity. The word ”worship” actually means to fall prostrate before the one we esteem. Jesus wants our praise to be the fruitful overflow of a full heart, not a discouraged sacrifice of a wounded soldier. Praise and worship should open the Heavenly Realm and release fresh revelation of Truth. Notice these Psalms…

  • Oh come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker (Ps 95:6).
  • My voice You shall hear in the morning, oh Lord. In the morning I will direct it to You and I will look up (Ps 5:3).
  • The Lord is my Strength and my Shield. My heart trusted in Him and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices and with my song I will praise Him (Ps 28:7).
  • They looked to Him (God) and were radiant and their faces were not ashamed (Ps 34:5).

These praise moments were accomplished through a proper posture that bring Heaven to Earth. When we posture ourselves with humility and honor before God a spontaneous flow of rejoicing, thanksgiving and prayer is released from our inner man (1 Thess 5:16-19). The Apostle Paul tells us to never quench the Spirit. I believe this is because in those moments; when we reflect joy, we actually weaken the Enemy’s grasp on our lives.

Satan loses his power and the forces of darkness are disarmed.

Jesus Christ is truly the Victorious King!

When Heaven is releasing its resources into our hearts; and we are being filled with power from on high, then we walk different and carry unique authority. Jesus is “Our King” and the awareness of His victory is earth shaking and life altering. Faith begins to rise where Truth is embedded. The heart that takes the appropriate posture receives grace (James 4:6), obtains mercy (Heb 4:16) and walks in power (Lk 24:49) from heaven (Acts 2:2). This is the Kingdom stuff that brings heaven to earth and disarms hell’s influence on our lives.

Recovering the Anointing

“The anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” (1 John 2:27)

Now this seems like a unique Scripture, don’t you think? In some way there is teaching that happens without a physical teacher, no class and no books. The teaching which is referred to here is not man’s knowledge, it is the knowledge that comes only from the Holy Spirit who leads us in spiritual instruction.

  • The Apostle Paul spoke of Holy Spirit things, that the natural man could never wrap his mind around. (1 Cor 2:10)

When we have the presence of the Holy Spirit upon us, we have supernatural knowledge and do not need anybody to teach us, because we are flowing in His anointing. It is the anointing of the Holy Spirit that teaches by navigating us (as our Guide) into and around the realms of the spirit world. No one knows how to navigate in the invisible realm of the spirit, like the Holy Spirit. It is a different kind of teaching, but it is even more significant than natural knowledge contained in books. I have heard people say things like, ”you just know it in your know-er”… like a knowing on the inside, in your heart of hearts.

The mind & supernatural life and peace. (Rom 8:6)

Let me caution… there are struggles with this kind of teaching and we must be careful to accurately follow our Shepherd. Some will question your sanity, or be critical of your perception and still others might dismiss your discernment completely. But God has given to each of us a “spirit man” on the inside to listen for His voice. Don’t be nervous. The Holy Spirit desires to speak to your spirit and nurture this knowledge of God; as well as, lead you into a comfortable reliance upon the anointing.

Training yourself to hear the voice of God is the key component! (Jn 10:4)

We can miss interpret God’s voice from time to time even when we have all the visible and invisible facts in front of us. If we get disconnected from His Word or get out of fellowship with His people, our hearing can be distracted by fears or worldly chatter.

Getting lost… even in familiar territory.

When we find ourselves in wilderness seasons or troubled by the volume of outside voices, the Bible gives us some great advice. “Be still and know that I am God” (Ps 46:10). God says He will be exalted among the nations and exalted in the Earth. Simply listen for where He is exalted and follow the sound of His praise. God declares that He will inhabit the praises of His people (Ps 22:3). These voices will draw us back to where our journey feels safe once again. His voice is clearest as you get closer to His heart.

The anointing is recovered in His heart!

First Things

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Mt. 6:33)

When we seek first the Kingdom of God every part of our life is effected. Our values, choices and even our dreams come into alignment by some very significant Truths… Truths that are foundation to a Christlike lifestyle. To place something first means it carries the most influence, weight and authority in our lives. It most often makes the most sense to us and appears first in rank or preference.

The “first thing” is the most important thing!

When we make the decision to follow Christ and put our faith in His power to lead us; we are immediately struck by the reality, that other things will challenge us for the position of “first place”.

First place is the high place!

Devotion and discipline are huge factors in our ability to maintain our goals to serve God with our gifts and honor God with our hearts. Yet it was Jesus’ own promise to us that if we would seek first the Kingdom of God; all the important things we value most, would come after our obedient lifestyle.

Seeking transforms our focus and aligns our desires with His will.

It is a sure thing that our commitment will be tested, but we can trust our Heavenly Father to deliver on the Promises of His Word. Seeking first the Kingdom of God actually releases the Holy Spirit’s Presence in our lives, for discernment and convictions to come to the surface. As we process life on spiritual levels, our hearts are moved and behaviors are adjusted by a sense of the peace of God, which passes our understanding (Phil 4:4-7).

Four things are required in the seeking first model:

  1. Rejoice in the Lord always… Praise and Activate Your Trust!
  2. Prayer Maintain Communication with Heaven!
  3. Supplication… Ask and Keep on Asking in Faith!
  4. Thanksgiving… Be Grateful for His Promised Best for You!

Making a lifestyle out of seeking God for the first things in our life will cause us to recognize all those less important things, that tend to release worry and fret. Worry does nothing to change our situation or shape our future for the better. Worry actually is the first thing our spiritual enemy (Satan) will look for to try and bring destruction through lies and fear.

Worry is irresponsible and distracting.

The Apostle Peter said “…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Pet 5:7) Trusting God’s character and faithfulness, is often the biggest test of our heart, but when we press through and renew our courage… we become more tenacious with a testimony on our side. Recognize God is more invested in you coming into your first things, than you are; because He cares for you!

Praise Brings Encounter

Encourage a Holy Ghost Party today – and shift the atmosphere around you!

Years ago, the authorities in an oppressive government seized two men, dragged them off and beat them. Their crime? Being Christian and talking to others about their faith. Bleeding and bruised, the men were finally thrown into a jail cell and shackled to a wall. By midnight, they had decided how to respond to their pain: They began to pray and sing praises to God.

Praise can become an enormous opportunity… a sacrifice is something surrendered and something is released (Heb 13:15).

Acts 16 recounts what happened next: “Suddenly there was an earthquake, so violent that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened…” The jailer ended up taking Paul and Silas to his home, washing their wounds, and begging them to baptize him and his family.

Incredible isn’t it… this is how praise brings spiritual encounter. Something is shaken and something is loosed; so that God can have His way in the midnight hour.

When we praise God in the midst of dark moments, we are surrendering our plans to His Divine order. While we are simply offering the fruit of our lips, God is coming to the rescue of His covenant child. Praise is an avenue into God’s courtroom where the drama of Earth is aligned with the judgements of Heaven (Ps. 100:4-5). Jesus said pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.” (Mt. 6:10) Praise brings encounters that transform how people see, hear and respond to everything! The atmosphere changes as the Kingdom of God rushes in to take dominion where darkness once reigned!
