Revival Fires

“Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and [one] sat upon each of them.” (Acts 2:3)

You and I cannot contain the Holy Spirit in a box. He will not allow it. The fire of God goes where the mind of man cannot go. The Lord has clearly said that His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isa. 55:8). Yet, God knows how to meet the needs of individuals. He created us with a need for the supernatural fire of the Holy Spirit.

Fire is Uncomfortable:

Everyone is precious in God’s sight and yet fire from heaven would take anyone out of their comfort zone. He is not willing that any should perish, yet many wondered, “what could this be?”. Furthermore, Jesus knows how to minister to the heart, but wind and fire are radical demonstrations that have moved many hearts toward the cover of religion rather than desire for experience. We see the signs and wonders of revival fire time and time again throughout the pages of the New Testament and especially in the Book of Acts. But, we must not lay aside our convictions for the hollow reasoning of our culture. We must trust that God knows what He is doing!

Igniting Fires:

It is interesting to note that the first act of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost is this activity of fire upon each person seated in the upper room. And to the amazement of so many, it brings five thousand people into the Kingdom at one time. People stood around saying, “Wow, that is very strange”, but when it came time to respond… God had His way. It seems to me that we are in need of more fire; that perhaps a fire must be ignited before revival can take hold of a person’s spiritual condition. We cry out for our communities to be saved, yet rarely wait for the fire to fall on us.

Fire Unleashes the Kingdom:

Jesus’ first message continues to be, “…The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the Gospel” (Mk. 1:15). The Gospel of the Kingdom of God is not without power (Rom. 1:16)(1 Cor. 4:20). The event of Pentecost was a release of power from heaven, an outpouring that would set the course of all of Christian history. It was fire, passion and power to shape a wineskin that would carry New Wine to the Nations and the generations that would follow. Jesus called it the “Promise of the Father”. The decision that needs to be made by leaders and congregations alike is, will the Holy Spirit be given the freedom to do whatever He needs to do!

The Need for Revival Fire:

People are hungry like never before and those who are seeking for the Holy Spirit, will find Him. These are important realities that we cannot ignore for the Presence of God and the power of God are available to all men… whoever would call upon the name of the Lord. They must see a flame burning; they must see and hear a sound from heaven, in order to wonder what we carry. Jesus must be allowed to release the Promise of the Father in our midst, to flow through us by the power and might of the Holy Spirit! The need of the Church is now, the need in the Nations is now… not tomorrow, not next month, and certainly not next year! Now is the time of salvation. Now is the time of deliverance.

Now is the acceptable time for revival fires to be unleashed across the nations. (Lk. 4:19)
