Advancing Kingdom Life

Evangelism is the Kingdom of God advanced through our lives!

The Apostle James said, “faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, ‘You have faith and I have works’. Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” (Jms 2:17-18)

If we only proclaim the Gospel with our lips and not our lives, we are hypocrites and our faith is dead… ineffective. This is why it is so important for Christians to continually live with a vision for Kingdom Advancement. When we daily experience God’s Glory in our lives we begin to be revived and transformed from the inside out. The freedom of having a Kingdom mindset will enable us to joyfully speak of God to those within our sphere of influence. We will end the argument that aims to get people to agree with us and begin to impact the world with a flow of life.

Fear Factor:

The Devil uses intimidation to discourage us from telling our story. I often hear people say, “How can I tell anyone about Jesus when I’m not gifted at evangelism?” At that moment we must stop and apply the Truth of the Gospel to our own soul. The Apostle Paul didn’t hang his head in shame when he was reminded of his own unique history and personal limitations. He spoke to his own soul about the nature of his relationship with Christ. His confidence before kings came from knowing that fruitfulness flowed from his intimacy with God, not his personal eloquence or human wisdom (1 Cor 2:1-5).

No Condemnation… not even a little bit!

“There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom 8:1). When clumsiness, unworthiness or shame overwhelm our soul we must preach the Gospel of the Kingdom to ourselves. Speak boldly; ”I am in Christ and He has made me righteous by faith in His blood! I take hold of His forgiveness and He washes away all sin and breaks every stronghold. His power works in me and is mine at this very moment. I’m God’s adopted Son! It is Christ who lives in me and I have inherited His boldness, because I carry His Spirit.”

Make the Grace Connection: (Eph 2:8-10)

Remind yourself, its not about “you”. I often pray over myself, under my breath or speak His Name out loud while I am driving. This is my way of staying in the flow of heaven’s resource… Glory (Phil 4:19). I am believing and receiving His grace spontaneously in those moments. It may sound silly, but I believe in laying my hand upon my own head and speaking a blessing over myself or asking God to anoint my head with fresh oil. I desire the overflow of God’s Presence to be seen upon my life, even before I speak a word.

The Holy Spirit:

This discipline has the power to radically change my focus, because it puts the weight of pressure back upon the Holy Spirit. He is My Helper, the Voice of Conviction and Discerner of the Heart. He clothes me in the Father’s Glory. Its the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us that makes us witnesses in the world (Acts 1:8). He is the Spirit of Grace and Truth, but He is also the boldness we need to testify. Welcoming the Holy Spirit’s leadership is essential to any success in the Kingdom, especially evangelism.

Go into the World:

Go for it and proclaim the Kingdom Message to others… remember that someone had to tell you while you were still in the world. That same Kingdom reality that has changed you, has the power to save, deliver and set all men free from sin and intimidation. Speaking the Truth to ourselves; that is our ”soulish man”, sets our perceptions on the love of Christ and releases the anointing for breakthrough in others. Jesus is our source of life, not our eloquence or ability to formulate an argument (1 Cor 1:30). It is Christ in you that reflects God’s Glory (Col 1:27) and it is by His power activated and flowing, that you become effective in destroying the works of the devil (1 Jn 3:8).

Jesus is our model: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38).

Fully Persuaded

“Being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised.” (Rom. 4:21)

This is an exciting time for many as change brings new opportunities and a fresh season in God. Our energy and sense of purpose are intensified when we feel like God is handing us a new assignment… often it feels refreshing. Yet – I want to encourage you… set your face like flint and be fully persuaded in your “promise”. You need to understand that as you are moving into new places, new levels of conscious decisions are required. God says, “All things become new”. Not all that you have understood up to this point will be of value in the next season and not everyone will share your new found joy. Some of your former mentalities and relationships might even try to oppose or stop you if they can!

Leaning on Others:

As we are serving the Lord in our daily assignments, ministries and lifestyle choices, we have learned to lean upon others and others learn to depend on us and watch us as we move forward. They’ve learned to depend on our character and become comfortable with how we work or how we respond to life in transition. Something is always changing, but in Christ all things are established for our peace and consistent increase. Beyond the expectations of others, is the Highest Calling we know – to lean on God! In effect, we can bless others more when we bear evidence of a life that is fully persuaded by what God is saying… fully persuaded by what God is doing… and even fully persuaded when we are unaware of where it will lead us! I often have to remind myself to never set my heart by the opinions of man.

Move in the “Now”:

When the time comes for a change many find it hard to believe that it is the will of God for you and they may even speak against it. Those who do not speak faith words are not to be listened to. You are wise to surround yourself with people who pray and find their greatest hope in God. They believe in your success and pull blessing into your path. Every time they speak your name in the Throne Room of Heaven, something is happening for your good in God’s purpose. It’s at this point that you will discover who is on the Lord’s side! Lean forward into your “now” moment and allow the momentum of grace to shift your thinking and your living. You have never been here before and you will only know the direction by hearing God’s Voice.

I say: BE FULLY PERSUADED and HOLD YOUR COURSE – for the Lord is calling you up and out to a new place where He can enlarge your influence! (Mic. 2:13) Your King, Jesus will pass before you!

Words that Break In

“Is not My word like a fire?” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock? (Jer. 23:29)

“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Heb. 3:15)

When the Word of God breaks in… it creates pathways for faith and advancement!

Recently I have been feeling the need to hear the Word of God on a completely different level. I want to hear with a depth of understanding that delivers and restores and brings revival to my heart. God’s Words offer supernatural impact to the soul of a man, because it shatters misconceptions. Jesus said, “truth will set you free!” Truth is who Jesus is! Truth is reality from God’s perspective! Knowing Him and allowing His voice to resonate in our mind will consistently change the way we see and think. There is nothing too big or too difficult for the Word of God to clarify and “shatter like a rock”… as Jeremiah says in the above verse. But it must first… break in to do it!

God Still Speaks Today!

He said, I AM the Lord your God, I change not! Faith is so important, because it gives us the ears to hear the voice of God. Faith is the most potent force in the entire universe. According to the Bible; taking God seriously by believing His Promises, provides: “power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing” (Rev. 5:12)… all of this comes through the breaking in of the Word of God.

God’s Voice Rests in His Words:

God’s voice carries weight. From thunder and lightning (2 Sam. 22:14) to the sound of His whisper (1 Ki. 19:12)… God’s voice is mighty. It makes the wilderness shake, breaks the cedars and calls the chaotic into order. God speaks and power is released… things are created, re-created, mobilized or stilled. It was His Word that He sent to heal the sick (Ps. 107:20), His voice that made the deer give birth (Ps. 29:9) and the recognition of His Name that raised Lazarus from the dead (Jn. 11:43). We must realize that every time God’s voice is heard something shifts in the atmosphere of both heaven and earth… purpose flows forth and power is released. Its as significant as when God commanded the Sun to stand still for Joshua (Josh. 10:12-13), decreed a healing for a Centurion’s servant (Mt. 8:8) or compelled a storm to become calm with just one word – “Peace” (Mk. 4:39). What makes His voice carry such weight is His Authority! He rules the universe at the sound of His voice and holds all things together; from the grandest mountain range to the smallest molecule, by the word of His power.

How does God Speak to Us Today?

  1. He speaks directly: As He spoke with Abram! (Gen. 12:1-3) “Come out of your father’s house, to a land that I will show you”
  2. He speaks through Scripture: As He spoke to Isaiah! (Isa. 34:16) “Search from the Book of the Lord and read…”
  3. He speaks through His Spirit: As He spoke to the waiting Disciples! (Acts 2:4) “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.
  4. He speaks as we minister to Him: As He spoke into the Early Church leaders! (Acts 13:2) “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said…”

Jesus assures us; that as the Holy Spirit had spoken to Him, so also the Holy Spirit would speak the will and purposes of God to us… if we would be willing to listen: “He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. …All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.” (Jn. 16:12-15)

The Apostle Peter tells us that believers have obtained a “like precious faith” (2 Pet. 1:1-4) …the same kind of faith that is alive in all who have trusted in Jesus. Faith offers supernatural grace and possibility to human frailty. These “faith people” are empowered with divine knowledge and become partakers of a divine nature. How? Through the Word of God that breaks in… past doubt and unbelief and lands upon the hearing ear and the receptive heart!

Jesus looked at our weakness and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!” (Mt. 19:26). By receiving, believing and declaring the Word of God over all that pertains to life and godliness – we walk in a victory given by God. We see the mountains fall, the valleys raised up and the impossibilities achieved… because of precious faith. There is power in God’s promises and there are Kingdom advancements made available by the works He has accomplished in Jesus!

And all we have to do is be found trusting, and the Words that break in; become activated… like “fire” or a “hammer” in our lives.

The Point

“Living for Jesus”

Our highest prize is to be found living for Jesus. God is offering us the invitation to walk in spiritual prosperity and release His love to the world around us. Our enemies are God’s enemies, our difficulties are God’s difficulties and yet, our victory is God’s testimony. We are beginning to understand that we have full access to everything for which Jesus died. Its not about the bigger, better or more popular life, its about gaining Christ. He has captured our hearts, by loving us in the midst of discovery!

“We cannot, but speak of what we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:20)

Often the disciplines of our Christian faith can lead us to believe that our life is more about dying to self than living for Christ. Yet, we are exchanging the ashes of a misguided life for the beauty of abiding in His Presence. Though darkness lasts for the night, fresh joy gets released in the morning. The Lord, Himself becomes our Everlasting Light and shapes the way we see our world. It truly is Christ in us that is the hope of Glory (Col 1:27).

The Unveiling:

Glory goes unseen by many, because human desires of the flesh are a veil that the devil uses to hide what is available to us (2 Cor 4:4-6). The inward, spiritual man is so much more wonderful than the outer, natural man of flesh and blood. Its the Holy Spirit’s influence that begins to delight our heart and remove the veil of flesh, so that blessing, purpose and fruitfulness can emerge as our treasure (2 Cor 3:16-18). And treasure it, we will… just try to still our voice, shift our vision or hold us back! We have understood the call to go forth in power and it is now inside us, to endure all things with bold perseverance (Heb 10:35-39).

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?… Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us! (Rom 8:31-37)

God is Speaking

“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Heb. 3:15)

God still speaks today. He said, I AM the Lord your God, I change not! Faith is so important to us, because it gives us that greater capacity to hear the voice of God. Faith is the most potent force in the entire universe. According to the Bible; taking God seriously by believing His Promises, provides everything for an abundant life… and the godliness we need to achieve it (2 Pet. 1:3-4): “power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing”  (Rev. 5:12). Faith offers supernatural grace and possibility to human frailty. Jesus looked at our weakness and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!” (Mt. 19:26).
