Transforming Culture

Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” (Mt. 28:18-19)

Have you understood your mission… as a quest to disciple nations!

RevivalHut Ministry is connecting Christian leaders, who will plug into a 3 year training program… to an unfathomable adventure in Kingdom Pursuits. We call these spiritual incubators – Apostolic Training Centers. They are not just Bible Studies, but a life course… like a journey that molds raw humanity into true disciples of Christ. There are so many important transitions that must be made within our mindsets and our personal convictions in order to fulfill the mandate of Jesus, who said “pick up your cross and follow Me”.

I would like for you to consider your fellow Christian brothers as leaders and part of your team… a Kingdom Team! You will not be in competition for anything, but looking to advance the Kingdom for the benefit of all the churches in the region, as well as all the people within reach of those congregations. We are aiming at transforming the culture… beliefs, activities and governing structures must be looked at through a new and fresh perspective – through the Biblical Truth revealed in Jesus.

7 Mountains of Influence:

“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it.” (Isaiah 2:2)

We promote the idea that all societies emerge and define themselves by 7 platforms or spheres of influence…

1) family, 2) education, 3) government, 4) business, 5) the arts & entertainment 6) media & communication and 7) religion.

If our goal is to transform culture, then we as God’s Kingdom People must be disciplined and authentic; as well as being lead by the Holy Spirit. We need to see ministry as part of every sphere of society and we need to make an impact. We need Kingdom minded Business People, Entertainers, Scientists, Government Officials, etc. – and we need to gain ground in the arenas of the spirit by ruling well in the midst of the opportunities God offers us.

So the key is to know God and understand that He created these models of influence and understands how they should function properly from His perspective. We must be trained in spiritual truth so that we can obey the prayer of Jesus (Mt. 6:10) praying, believing and demonstrating Kingdom Impact – “that His Kingdom would come and His Will would be done on earth as it is in heaven”. We believe the Bible speaks directly to us and unlocks the truth of how God’s People can become His disciples and walk in His Glory, ruling well and releasing cultural transformation.

And we are watching it happen in regions all over the world.

The Strategies: Psalm 133

Some of the steps that are important are 1) developing networks of visionary Christian leaders, 2) gathering these leaders for prayer and training sessions, 3) encouraging one another and celebrating achievements as a team and 4) honoring one another as fruitful laborers in the vineyard within our reach. As Psalm 133 proclaims to us… that is where God commands the blessing! In the midst of anointed Kingdom minded Leaders – united for the purpose of advancing God’s agendas in the Earth.

This is the basis for the RevivalHut Network. This is the priority that sustains revival fire and a passion for cultural change. Our hope is to empower leaders to see themselves differently, yet consider that God sees ministry in all arenas of life not just pulpit ministry, like those who preach as pastor or teacher. We invite ladies and men, we encourage business people and educators and develop passion for the community we serve, because we believe the Church must become the unified force for change in the Earth. Its not about how many people come to our churches, but how many leaders are influencing the culture for the Kingdom of God. Yes we see wonderful Church growth, but even more we see practical changes being made in society.

“…teaching them to observe all the things I have committed to you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Mt. 28:20)

The Political Mountain

Understanding the Political Mountain By Dr. Shawn Patrick Williams

We are at a political tipping point in the United States of America. Jesus Christ told the church to “occupy” until He comes and it is part of the Church’s “Great Commission” to go into all the world and make disciples. That directive was articulated in the seven mountains strategy that Campus Crusade founder Bill Bright received in 1975, confirmed by other prolific voices in the Body.

The 7 Mountain Mandate:

These seven mountains are business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, the family and religion. It is so critical for the Church to have a sound Biblical understanding of the political climate of our nation and what our stance should be as a Body and a believer when we are assessing the political mountain of culture. There has not been such a vicious and divisive political climate that I’m aware of for the past sixty-five years. Not only has this year’s election been dividing the political parties, but it has brought division in the Body of Christ. A house divided cannot stand! I know people are angry about the current state of America’s government. How do we navigate through all of the rhetoric and noise coming from the media? How do we understand our duty as the New Testament Church?

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;” (1 Timothy 2:1-8)

I am convinced that the failed results of the past eight years in the political mountain has produced great confusion and corruption. It is because the majority of the Church spent more time complaining about the current administration, instead of following the Biblical instruction to lift our leaders up in prayer… even if we do not like them or agree with them. A follower of Christ must resolve not to get caught up in political drama. People in all parties should be affected by godly character and deep commitment to pray for the governmental leaders. Throughout the history of the Church, God has placed His people around totalitarian governments and difficult political atmospheres for the very purpose of having their prayers change the governmental mountains of the day.

To gain a deeper understanding of this dynamic, we must grasp the fact that many people are sent to the governmental realm with a “Kingdom Assignment”. God has sent many over the centuries to be a “voice of change” and a “root of righteousness” among world powers. God had Daniel influence the shape of Babylon. The Lord used Paul to impact Rome and the entire known world. Moses was a tool God used to shut one nation down and re-birth another. Ultimately Father God sent Jesus to carry the government upon His shoulders.

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7)

The Calling of God:

If you are a believer that feels the call to this governmental mountain, you too will be challenged in these same areas. You will be attacked with all the temptations of idolatry, and your spiritual identity will be tested. You will have to learn to eat lunch with an enemy, but have a resolve to bring the Kingdom into new territory. You will need to be rooted and grounded in your spiritual DNA, in order to not take on a party DNA, as your true source of guidance. The difficult thing will be establishing the Kingdom within the party to which you are assigned. There must be believers commissioned in this mountain in order to occupy it! Ignoring the responsibility of the church to influence this mountain would be a grave injustice. Separation of church and state was instituted to keep government out of church, not to keep believers of government. The first Congress in 1776 was a prayer session.

We must understand two critical things.

  1. God can use and has used evil kings to establish His purposes under the sun. Do not fret about who gets elected or who does not. He used king Cyrus, Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar for His purposes. God is still the King of kings and Lord of lords.
  2. A believer has an obligation to pray for those in government and the responsibility to research the men of God in this political mountain and vote for the candidate that they feel the Holy Spirit has led them to support.  PRAY – DO YOUR RESEARCH – AND VOTE!

When you vote, vote your values and morals. Vote guided by Biblical Truth. Vote your convictions. Above all, pray for all parties and government leaders so we can see unity and a spiritual awakening in our nation!

As an Ambassador for Christ… you carry influence that shapes this mountain!

The Kingdom Results

The Apostle Paul said, “The Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Rom. 14:17).

God’s Kingdom establishes the Christian heartbeat! Some would say its the heart that produces righteousness, but its the Kingdom. The rule of God, governed by the Holy Spirit, produces God’s righteousness, peace and joy. Some would say peace is the result of things going well for us, but actually peace is the Presence of a Person – the Governor of God, Holy Spirit. Joy is not released by a merry heart as much as it is flowing from a governed heart. If people only understood this, they would make every effort to welcome the Kingdom of God into their lives. They would, in fact seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness (Mt. 6:33).

When Philip the evangelist preached Christ in Samaria, “there was great joy in the city” (Acts 8:8), because the Kingdom was being established.

Today we need such a manifestation of the Kingdom of God in our cities. We need Kingdom results; therefore we, as God’s people must sow Kingdom values. The message of the Kingdom of God was Jesus’ message (Mt. 4:17). It applies not only at the individual level, but also at every level of society. Business, Media, Government, Religion, Education, Family, Arts and Science all represent realms of cultural influence that have become the creative flow of society. The key to transforming our culture is to demonstrate the Kingdom in every sphere of societal influence. It would take the kind of faith that recognizes Jesus Christ as Lord – above all and esteems Him in every sphere of life. But isn’t that what we are called to do!

  • To practice justice, mercy, love, faithfulness, favor and blessing.
  • To disciple, teach and baptize or immerse the culture in Truth.
  • To believe, heal, raise the dead and cast out darkness on every level.

The Church is the habitation of God by His Holy Spirit (Eph. 2:22). Kingdom results come from Kingdom Ambassadors! It takes no building, no choir, no budget; but it does require what Kingdom Ambassadors carry… glory (Col. 1:27), faith (Heb. 11:6) and obedience (Mt. 25:34-36). And the awareness that Christ is always with us even to the end of the age (Mt. 28:20)

Kingdom results come from Kingdom Ambassadors!

Freshly Anointed

“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)

The Apostles, Peter and John; carried an anointing that was fresh and obvious to everyone! Their behavior, boldness and supernatural influence were tangible and appeared as rich evidence that they had been with Jesus. Their courage and character looked like Jesus! Their impact in ministry lifted them beyond their education or their status in society. Something was visible… and that will always make the religious culture a bit nervous.

Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed (chrio) Me…” (Luke 4:18)

The Greek word anointed, ‘chrio’, means to smear or rub with oil… and as you could imagine, there are wonderful things produced when the Holy Spirit anoints human flesh. There is something in the experience of Jesus, a powerful picture that is prophetic… conveying the Father’s heart and purpose for our lives. The common English expression, “to rub off”, means to have an effect through close association or contact – so as to make similar. For example, if you brush up against a freshly painted door, wet paint will rub off on you… the same color and texture will show up! Jesus’ attributes and anointing rubbed off onto His disciples, and in like manner; they show up on us when we fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The close contact with Him changes our perceptions and our boldness.

“Rubbing Off”

God desires to get up close and personal with you. When you encounter Christ, the Holy Spirit’s power rubs off on your life in such a way that others witness it and hunger for a similar relationship with God. The anointing is not a commodity; it is not a thing. It is the Person of the Holy Spirit revealing Himself in and through you. I want to encourage you, that the spiritual hunger that you have right now for the invisible, undefinable “more of God”, will change you and transform your outer man! And that, truly is the richest gift of the Spirit.

4 More Ways to Receive a Fresh Anointing

1. A Fresh Encounter with God Through His Word: The Bible (Heb. 4:12)(Jms. 1:21-25)

  • (2 Cor. 3:18) ‘And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s Glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.’
  • The Greek word translated ‘contemplate’ in this verse, means to look into a mirror. In context, Paul is saying that we don’t have a blinded understanding—we have the fullness of the Gospel that reveals Jesus. It is on God’s heart that you encounter Him in the Bible, catching a fresh revelation of Who He is and see mirrored there who you are in the process of becoming. When you do, you experience transformation, you encounter God and you receive a fresh touch from Him.

2. Make Room for More: Surrender (Heb. 12:1)

  • (2 Tim. 2:20-21) ‘In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.’
  • The ‘latter’ that Paul referred to was false teaching and ungodly talk. What is that thing that the Holy Spirit is putting His finger on in your life right now and He is saying, ‘It’s time for that to go’. Maybe it is fear or intimidation, or lack of self worth. Perhaps you need to release bitterness and forgive someone. Maybe it is an area of struggle or temptation, and you need to bring it into the light and share what is going on with someone you can trust. It could be distractions that are keeping you from focusing on God. Sometimes in order to be filled and receive more, we need to make room… we need to be cleansed and separate from some stuff.

3. Close Association with Others who are Anointed: Fellowship (Heb. 10:23-25)

  • (Eph. 4:16) ‘…from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth to the body for the edifying of itself in love.’
  • What is ‘rubbing off’ onto you from the people who are around your life? What is ‘rubbing off’ from you onto others? If possible, get around people who have the Presence of God on their lives and who carry the integrity, attributes, gifts and spiritual DNA that God has called you to have on your own life. Learn from them, receive from them, and study them and what they do.

4. Receive a Fresh Anointing Through Prayer: Ask, Seek and Knock (Mt. 7:7)(1 Tim. 2:1-4)

  • Praying and receiving prayer are 2 of the most effective ways for you to receive a fresh touch of the Holy Spirit’s anointing. Recently I received prayer with some leaders who anointed me with oil for healing (Jms. 5:14). It was powerful and transformed my thinking toward that which seemed to hinder my faith. The fragrance of the oil lasted all day and when I remind myself of that moment I still feel the Presence of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes the very act of humbling yourself and confessing to God and others your need, makes all the difference in our spiritual battles.

Declare with me…”I’m hungry for more of You, God – and I embrace Your anointing!”

That is all it takes to receive a fresh touch of the Holy Spirit in your life!

Being A Disciple

“And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.” (Mt. 10:1)

Simply put, a disciple of Jesus is a follower of Jesus. Jesus told his 12 disciples, “if anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.” (Mt. 16:24)

What does it mean to follow Jesus?

1. Live as a Worshiper – (Jn. 4:23-24) We have been created in the Image of God; and as image bearers, we are to be carriers of His Glory. The question is not that we worship, but ”who” will we worship? Our worship is like a fire hose that can’t be turned off, so the question is where will we direct our passion and what will we pursue? A follower of Jesus worships their Creator and repents of any false worship – idolatry, including good things like family, work, or recreation.

2. Seek a Kingdom Identity – (Mt. 6:33) A follower of Jesus recognizes the sinful tendency to find their identity in their money, intelligence, career, education, children, human relationships, or any number of created things. Therefore a disciple turns from empty idols and finds their peace and joy in serving the Living God (1 Thes. 1:9).

3. Become Committed to Spiritual Community – (Acts 2:40-47) A disciple of Jesus has a Spirit inspired desire to live life with other followers, the Church. They recognize their membership in the Body of Christ and understand the weight of that responsibility by giving of their gifts, time, and money to serve others.

4. Embrace the Great Commission – (Mt. 28:18-20) Jesus said He was sending His Church in the same way in which He was sent (Jn. 20:21). A follower of Jesus sees themselves as a missionary sent on purpose, in their everyday lives, to restore a broken world through Kingdom living and proclamation.
