The Spirit of Prophecy

“For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Rev 19:10)

If you really want to make an impact… then allow God to transform your problems into testimonies! Telling people about the miracles happening in your life makes God more real and believable to the person who is struggling. It causes faith to engage in those who hear what God is doing in you.

Making Him Visible:

People begin to see miracles in their own lives, because of what God does for you. As we watch this process develop in others we begin to discover how the spirit of prophecy actively effects those around us. We rarely consider the fact that we have the authority to release God’s mercy to everyone around us… but it is a Kingdom promise for the child of God.

When we read in the Bible that God is able to do the miraculous, it means He has the power to do it! But when we hear somebody’s testimony, it means God is still doing it! He has the will to do these miracles in the here and now. Its an invitation to believe He will do it for you! The big difference in our perception actually draws us into expectation. We feel invited into the same experiences that we hear about.

Paul said it this way, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom 10:17).

Remind yourself that God’s Word is His will for you! Its His testimony. God is able! There is no deficiency in His power. The deficiency may not be in your faith, but in your testimony. Believing that He “can do” what needs to be done in our life is not enough, we must be enforcers of a victory that has already been won. He may work in totally unexpected ways, but He will work with supernatural power and give you something to talk about.

The World is watching your Christianity: Give them something to talk about!

Expect from God

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Rom. 10:17)

The best resource you have is God’s current Word to you. I don’t think there is anything more important than hearing His voice and expecting His purposes to be fulfilled in your life. The recipe for growth as a disciple of Jesus is first – reading His Word and second – expecting it to manifest in your life.

Bible Results:

The Bible is guaranteed to produce results (Isa. 55:8-11). But what are they? Spiritual Expectation… FAITH! Biblical Truth comes directly from God and enlarges faith. It shapes the way we see and is “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16). What it does is produce a supernatural faith in the hearer. It shifts the hearer’s world view and sets new foundations for reality. I urge you – read the Bible for yourself! See for yourself. As a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit indwelling you in order to lead you in the truth. You have the very Author of the Bible right there with you to show you reality from God’s perspective.

Shifting into Expectation:

This is the believing process that offers spiritual transformation. When you and I are given the opportunity to see what God sees and hear as God’s Children, then we feel our natural perceptions shift. Our thoughts and understandings weaken to the overwhelming reality of Truth, “reality from God’s perspective”. Faith comes by hearing the Truth of the Word of God! Faith is a wonderful gift, given at the moment of revelation; and a powerful seed that grows as it is watered. Faith is all about believing what God says about us, not what others say. Faith inspires us to expect God’s love and power.

Expect the Best:

Expect God’s help, wisdom, strength and favor to increase… your future is not hinged to natural limitation when you allow the Word of God to touch your “expector”. You can expect your needs to be met! How can I be so sure… because God is not a liar! Want to learn more? Just pick up your Bible. Like a Divine Library, the Bible contains thousands of promises that are already yours!

Remember that God is faithful! Remember that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Nothing is impossible with God!

There is no limit to what God can do through His Word in you. Trust Him to provide abundant life (Jn. 10:10)!

The Working of Faith

“For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love” (Gal 5:6) Amplified Bible.

There was a time in my life when God spoke a specific word to me about the value of compassion and love. It was during a season when I was aggressively seeking Him for more faith. I had fasted and prayed, spent hours in Scripture and even gone to a powerful conference that incredibly blessed and enriched my heart. Yet – I had forgotten this verse, that indicates specifically how love impacts faith! God seemed to be nudging me into a different place… a love place. So reluctantly I pulled away into His Presence.

Here is what He said to me: “When faith rises above love, then we come dangerously close to living in idolatry!”

God has made numerous promises regarding the power of faith. Faith can move mountains. Faith can heal diseases. Faith can receive answers to prayer. Nothing is impossible with faith. But the most valuable truth at that moment… was that “faith works by love”. I wanted to know the power of faith without understanding the governing factors that make faith active. Faith is activated by love, energized by love, expressed by love and works by love. What God seemed to be saying to me is that “faith alone” was not the key to getting the results He wanted for my life and that my continual search would lead me down a dangerous path. Faith was not meant to work on its own, but to be measured and empowered by love… not a feeling, but an activity of loving according to God’s Truth.

Faith works by Love!

Have you ever felt frustration in your ability to trust in God? Is your faith not working the way the Bible promises it should? I will never forget the words of Heidi Baker, who said: “All fruitfulness flows from intimacy.” The problem may have very little to do with your faith, but more with your love. Notice that faith is activated and energized by love.

Many people’s faith is dead and inactive, because they cannot see through the eyes of compassion. If your faith is like a dead battery; unable to produce power, then you must realize that you are deficient of love. Remember that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Rom 10:17). When you are hearing the message of God’s Word, you are abiding in a supernatural resource that has the ability to transform sight. You are not listening to faith… you are listening to love. Love is the message… its the reality that activates, energizes and empowers us to see and do things we never considered possible – the faith stuff.

Jesus called the message, the Gospel of the Kingdom (Mt 4:23-25) and it stirred the supernatural activities that drew the crowds, because they could feel their pain and see their brokenness. He was activated in His faith by compassion and love; it is what moved Him (Mt 9:35-38). The Good News is that God’s love is realized and experienced when we come to believe… love becomes the encounter that makes faith a reality.

Love gives Faith its Authority!

A good battery may not be able to work, because it has been drained. You don’t throw away a good battery; instead, you recharge it. Your faith may be in great shape, but unable to work. You can recharge it by plugging it into love… you are called to abide in love! Spend time in the Father’s love. Let your life be immersed in the warmth of the Holy Spirit’s embrace and you will find faith moving in spontaneous ways. Stop working it up, and begin to live from an intimate place in the Father’s heart. You will begin to see that love activates faith.

Reclaiming a Miss-directed faith.

I was thinking about this just this morning, and the famous love chapter (1 Cor 13) was brought to my mind: “…if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” This scripture does not say that you cannot move mountains without love; it says that you are nothing without love. Your faith will be of no benefit to you without love, because you stand alone. You might have the faith to move mountains; but without love, you will be nothing and your faith will be hype, miss-directed and unable to accomplish God’s real purposes. And just so we understand; if that faith could function and bring results, we should question the source.

What God wanted me to see is that I could find myself in idolatry, believing that I was doing something by the power of God; when in fact it was flesh, or worse… demonic. Satan loves to masquerade as a purveyor of false gifts and manifestations.

God is love (1 Jn 4:8). God traffics in love and therefore faith that is properly focused from love will set us free, heal us and deliver from all the works of the Devil. Love never fails (1 Cor 13:8).

Resisting Unbelief

Unlocking the "Promise"

Unlocking the "Promise"

“Now the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation complain against him by bringing a bad report of the land; those very men brought the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the Lord.” (Nu. 14:36-37)

We often believe partially… like having faith for breakfast, but stopping short of believing God to meet all of our needs.

Let’s look at what happened in the Bible. God had Moses lead the people out of Egypt. Then He said I’m giving you a Promised Land that flows with milk & honey. So Moses sent out spies to check out the land God promised them. Joshua and Caleb came back in agreement with God’s promise (the land is good). The other ten spies came back with a bad report, focusing on the giants in the land and doubting God. How you see… is more important than what you see!

Seeing & Believing:

I know how tempting it is to focus on the negative instead of believing what God has promised! You must actively allow God to shape your perception while you look at realities that seem contrary to the Word of God! Seeing and believing are two very different issues. The Bible says that the people believed the spies with the bad report and wanted to stone Joshua and Caleb. Imagine fighting to agree with lies… that is where doubts lead us. It is amazing to watch reason or “how we see”, bring people into complaining and away from belief in God and His Promises. Doubt requires no creative energy at all, in fact it is an open door for a spirit of unbelief. When we are struggling to trust God, we need to resist the spirit of unbelief, because it is stubborn and will lead us into deception and paralyze our vision. You must exercise your faith in God’s Word, if you want to see the “promise” in your promised land!

  • God is truth!
  • He is not a man who would lie.
  • In Him there is no darkness at all – He’s not even capable of telling a lie.
  • The devil is the father of all lies, he is the deceiver and thief.
  • God is good, and His plan for us is good.
  • God is faithful and will always make Himself available.
  • He will never leave us, nor forsake us.

Don’t Open the Door to a Plague!

Doubt is not something that God puts in us. The Bible says that God gives every man a “… measure of faith” (Rom. 12:3). God has placed faith in our heart, but the devil tries to negate our faith by attacking us with fear and doubt. Doubt comes in the form of thoughts that are in opposition to the Word of God. This is why it’s so important to know the Word, speak the Word and walk in the Word. If we know the Word, then we can recognize when the devil is lying to us. Realize that he lies in order to steal from you… he is after the “promise” of the Promise Land. He wants to undermine all that Jesus revealed to us in His life and purchased for us at the cross, through His death and resurrection.

Don’t let the devil rob you of your inheritance!

Encourage yourself in God’s Word and speak out loud who He is and what He has purposed for you. Give no room for the devil to deceive you. If you allow doubts to become a stronghold of unbelief in any area of your life, not only will you miss out on your “promised land”, you will end up living under a “plague”! The stubborn heart will make you feel as though you are dying in your personal wilderness. Fight the good fight of faith… and don’t entertain negative thoughts that contradict God’s Word. Take those thoughts captive and fight for fresh vision and promise (2 Cor 10:3-6)!

Faith opens the door to your spiritual inheritance! Remember the words of David, “no evil, no harm and no plague shall come near your dwelling” (Ps. 91:10), since faith comes by hearing, and hearing (breaks the spirit of unbelief) by the Word of God.

Its All Useful

There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another – showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us. (2 Tim 3:15-17) The Message

Its all useful for training us to live God’s way!

The Bible is not just a book of commandments, it is “in-struction”. Its the kind of stuff that builds internal structure that allows mobility and strength of character. I have read the Bible for lots of reasons, yet no reason so grabs my imagination like the knowledge that every time I look into God’s Word I am seeing Christ formed inside of me.

This is the goal:

That Christ would be formed inside of us, release power inside of us and increase strength inside of our spiritual man… that’s the goal. Our faith is built from the inside and demonstrated by what we do or how we live on the outside. That visible stuff people see on the outside, is simply the evidence that God’s Word is at work on the inside of us. God said He would watch over His Words to perform them (Jer 1:12)… and He does!

Fruitfulness:

The Beloved Disciple, John said that if we abide in His words and His words abide in us, we would bear much fruit. He even went so far as to say that in this the Father is glorified, that we bear much fruit (Jn 15:7-8). Fruitfulness is our gift, our offering to God flowing from a life lived digesting the words that He has spoken and written upon our hearts.

Reading is Spiritual:

While reading is our way of processing the language, it does more than just fill our mind. It actually releases our believing capacity and we begin to hope and trust in the God of His Word. Knowing the God of the Word is essential to our faith and actually becomes a natural response in our living. ”Faith comes by hearing… the Word of God” (Rom 10:17).

The reason why this happens is because of the Glory that God has placed upon His Word. Jesus was the Word made flesh and He was the very Glory of the Father; therefore as we look into the Word of God, Glory is manifesting God’s will and nature in us. “Christ in you is the hope of Glory” said the Apostle Paul (Col 1:27). Its a Glory that brings us into His very Presence and allows the words to actually begin to judge the thoughts and intents of the heart (Heb 4:12). The end result is transformation inside.

Powerful Results:

Its all useful for direction and correction. I have experienced so many times the power of God’s Word transforming the way I see, feel and move in life. As I become more equipped in my knowledge of the Word of God, I find more character and more power to live the abundant life God has destined for us all.
