Focus Today

These won't help

Spiritual Lenses

New spiritual seasons take shape as we move through narrow corridors with Christ. Open doors and breakthroughs seem strategically placed into the journey, just to call us into deeper trust. God has designed it this way. Things that seemed unreachable in a former season are now at our fingertips, because we are gaining understanding and letting go of fearful expectations. Circumstances that felt impenetrable just days earlier are somehow easily broken through, simply because we put our faith in His Promise.

These are the trials that focus our heart.

He is the God, who leads the Isrealites into a position where they were between two walls. At their back was that vast army of Egyptian soldiers and before them… the Red Sea. At no time was God more connected to the need of the moment and yet at no time did the Isrealites feel more tested.

Between a rock and a hard place!

At these times in our life its easy to recall words of despair; words spoken for no other reason than the fact that when the way narrows, fear settles in. Isreal’s reply to Moses “Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians – for it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than for us to die in the wilderness“. Moses are you just nuts, why are you not listening?

Focus is a true leader’s greatest tool!

Moses steps into this heated moment with the key that turns walls into doorways; turns impossibility into breakthrough. His words were “season changers”, because they were coming from a focused heart.

“Do not fear. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace.” (Ex. 14:12-14)

Incredible as this scene appears, a new season begins in the moment focus is recovered. What we can learn from this situation is that its the accurate perception of our today that makes the door visible to the next season. If we cannot focus, we cannot move! Moses calls them away from fear and into faith in God. God would surely not lead them here to die, but would align their attention with the next door.

Notice in verse 15; God says to Moses “tell the children of Israel to go forward“… then you raise your staff, open the sea and they will cross on dry ground.

There they go; into the next season, right? Like a deer leaping over a fence, its just that simple. I know; I can hear you saying “are you kidding me… that’s not simple at all”. Its not easy by way of reason, but it is the simplicity of how Children focus on a loving Father. Remind yourself again, following God is a relationship of trust. Our only responsibility is our focus, today.

Holy Spirit Keys

Our Helper has come. He is the Promise of the Father and the Guide into all Truth. With Him comes an anointing of power that brings strength to the weak and healing to the broken. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is to be poured out upon all flesh; that sons and daughters will prophecy and visions and dreams will become common experiences (Joel 2:28-30). To all that will make Him welcome, He will show the mysteries of God’s Kingdom and provide the courage to stand against the kingdoms of darkness.

To live and function according to God’s will for us, we need the Holy Spirit’s anointing working in us and through us. The Apostle John tells us that we have an anointing from God that teaches us things that cannot be taught from books or college classes (1 Jn 2:20 & 27). The Truth of God does not come to us to make us smarter, but to empower us for the impossible.

Jesus said, “I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and whatever you bind on Earth will be bound in Heaven and whatever you loose on Earth will be loosed in Heaven” (Mt 16:19).

Keys represent tools that give access. They are principles and gifts that provide entry through doors and gates otherwise left impenetrable. In this case the keys seem to give access to the Kingdom of Heaven. According to the Apostle Paul that access offers us righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom 14:17).

We are called to release the Kingdom!

Jesus goes as far as to say that using these Holy Spirit keys, will bridge the divide between Heaven and Earth by offering the ability to bind and loose. As God’s delegated authority upon the Earth, we are commissioned to become His ambassadors. His goal is that through our relationship with the Holy Spirit, we will be sensitive and equipped with all we need for living the supernatural life and transforming the culture around us.
