Principles of Governing

Then God blessed the man and woman, and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Gen. 1:28)

“When Jesus had called the twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases.” (Lk. 9:1)

Dominion is our natural stewardship of the planet! Its using the power and authority given freely by Christ to govern our sphere of influence. It is not enough to simply have the power to control things, if you do not have the right or authorization. For example, a person may have power to take someone’s car, but if he does not have the authority to do it, they are called a thief. On the other hand, a person may have the right or authority to take my car; but if he does not have the battery, he lacks the power to do it.

Jesus gave the Church both power and authority to govern as Kingdom representatives in this world, then He set the pattern for how to do it.

He said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12). The believer can do the miracles Jesus did and even greater than those seen through Him. Since Jesus gave us His power and authority, we simply have to look at what areas He showed dominion over.

Jesus showed dominion over:

  • Natural Problems (Mark 4:39)
  • Sickness and Diseases (Mark 2:10-12)
  • Evil Spirits (Mark 1:23-27)
  • Death (Luke 7:12-15)
  • Poverty (Matt 14:16-20)
  • Temptation (Heb 4:15)
  • Sin (Mark 2:10)

Jesus is our Example:

When you get a revelation of Jesus’ dominion you begin to recognize your own dominion. You will begin to speak to storm clouds, natural or spiritual. You will not put up with sickness and disease. You will drive out evil spirits. You will expect to live a long life. You will not worry over lack. You will resist temptation. You will not let the enemy condemn you for your past sins. This is dominion. When you find yourself overcome by these things in your life, then its time to exercise your dominion. The Apostle John said, “as He (Jesus) is, so are we in this world.” (1 Jn. 4:17)

Exercising Dominion is Governing:

Someone may ask, “So how do I exercise my dominion?” It is easy! You exercise dominion by governing your behavior… living to the Glory of God and choosing your words with the Holy Spirit’s influence. Renew your mind in the Words of Jesus… God’s Word! That’s right… you reign by releasing the Will of God over every situation! Look at how Jesus ruled… He said I do nothing on My own initiative… I only do what I see My Father do and speak what I hear My Father saying! (Jn. 5:19 & 8:28) And that is how He exercised dominion… through a life lived in the Glory of His Father!

He spoke to the winds and waves, “Peace! Be still!” And the storm obeyed Him. He said to the sick, “Be healed.” And His Word cured them. He used only His word to drive out demons and this shocked the people of His day (Mk. 1:27). When it came to death, He simply spoke, “I say unto you, get up.” And the dead listened. When the people were in need of food, He simply spoke a blessing and His blessing multiplied the loaves and fishes. How did He overcome temptation? Simply by saying to the devil, “It is written.” And when He saw a sinner condemned and sick He said, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” His words calmed the fears of the sinner, because they carried the dominion of His Father’s will. His words were sufficient in every situation. His words caused Satan to flee, because God stood behind them. Jesus consistently accessed the Glory of the heavenly realm and released God’s provision of health, deliverance and restoration.

Jesus consistently accessed the Glory Realm and released God’s provision of health, deliverance and restoration.

Disciples Govern the Same Way:

Obedience is evidence of our discipleship! Governing through our words and action requires us to carry a knowledge of the Truth and a love of His Presence. Jesus said that without Me you can do nothing, but if you abide in Me and My Words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you (Jn. 15:5 & 7-8). Note that He goes on to say, by this His Father is glorified that you and I would bear fruit and prove our discipleship. Proving our discipleship is all about carrying out the will of God… dominion.

Jesus said, “if you abide in My words, you are My disciples indeed” (Jn. 8:31).

Rending Heaven

“Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your Presence. To make Your Name known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Your Presence.” (Isa. 64:1-2)

Like many of you, I have felt the despair of this season. We are in a very narrow place and even as the nations rage, there is a sense within my heart that all is not well. Everything that can be shaken is being shaken. If we are not careful, each of us might be tempted to believe that we are alone in this season. The Tempter would love for us to believe that God is not with us, that He doesn’t care about our challenges and that no one, not even our closest friends, are concerned about us. Yet, we must not allow the devil to cause us to surrender one step or one inch of our Kingdom posture. We must stand on His Word and tell the devil, “It is written!”

Releasing His Word:

When God says He will rend the heavens, He means that He will tear open a portion of heaven for His entry. He intends to come down by releasing His Word to us. The word “rend” is connected to the same word in Greek which means to “call out”. God is calling out! He has violently ripped a hole in the spiritual atmosphere and come into our world… His Word has become flesh and dwelt among us. As unsettling and unnatural as it was for a virgin to conceive and as foolish and unacceptable as it was for the world to embrace; God was rending the heavens and making Himself known to the nations. Why? Because His very Name is life, peace and salvation!

Let me repeat: His Name is Life, Peace and Salvation!

This “calling out” means several things. First, it implies that God will call out to us. He will make His name known to us, to call us to accountability. He knows us by name and He desires that we know Him… that we know His voice and His Presence. That we recognize love when it is demonstrated by a cross. It also implies a calling out to our enemy… His adversary! That’s right, can you picture this? Not only is God rending the heavens and calling out to us with words of life, He is also calling out to our enemy; the accuser, who accuses us day and night. What’s He saying… “It is Finished!” The day of vengence has now come…

  • I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Acts 2:19-21)

God is once more rending the heavens and coming down to us, by releasing His Word. Will we hear Him? He is speaking concerning our breakthroughs, as well as exposing the strongholds that are blocking His advancement in the Earth. He is speaking new strategies and equipping His people with power to transform the culture one person at a time. Shaking is not a new thing, its a God thing… God is revealing His purposes in the Earth and exposing the enemy at the same time. Our responsibility is to walk in God’s Promises and trust in His Fathering Heart.

Understand His Intentions:

Position yourself to hear the Voice of Your Redeemer! Remove the old garments for the Bride Groom stands ready. Cast aside the influence of Babylon (the world system) and Mammon. Shake yourself free from discouragement that latches onto your mind. Renewal and refreshment are awaiting the Bride as she sees with the eyes of faith and love. This Bride Groom comes with fire in His eyes, declaring His intentions. The Lord is extending peace like a river and the wealth of the nations like flowing streams (Isa 66:12). He comes anouncing His intent… “I have come for My Bride!”

The Good News:

There is a good word in these times of shaking. “Though sorrow may last for the night, joy comes in the morning” (Ps 30:5). God is not finished and He has no intention of holding back… for in rending the heavens He is making His Name known among the nations. The mountains will shake, but those who have their hearts set on their Beloved… they will welcome the sound of His footsteps.

“And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21)

It Is Written

“Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your Presence. To make Your Name known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Your Presence.” (Isa. 64:1-2)

Taking Dominion

“With the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach will be satisfied; He will be satisfied with the product of his lips. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Prov. 18:20-21)

Speaking – By Faith & Living with Spiritual Courage!

Notice… A vast and often untapped power is released by the words we speak! Life and death are in the power of our tongue and we overcome Satan’s lies by the word of our testimony. God’s destiny is not far from our reach, it just gets obstructed by the hindrances the enemy sets in our path. Deuteronomy 30:14 declares God’s pathway for obtaining the inheritance. He says, “Now the Word is near you; even in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.”

The Apostle Paul, brings this message to the forefront when he announces to the believers in Rome that faith must be at the very center of their pursuits… He says, “The Word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the Word of Faith that we preach) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom 10:8-9)

Tapping Into The Promises of God:

Moses is speaking here of the opportunity to move into all that is promised in the “Promise Land” and the Apostle Paul is likewise encouraging the “seeker” to understand the way into the “Promises of Abundant Life” in Christ. The pattern is faith and courage to speak the Word of God… a life lived in obedience to the Word of God and speaking those Words over our environment. Even Jesus dealt with the devil by saying, “it is written” (Mt. 4:10). Its the activity of faith… and its the assigned obligation of all who aim to release the Kingdom of God. In this day; we must have Kingdom advancement for the obtaining of every mountain, every valley and every realm of spiritual dominion. We must rule in the midst of our enemies! (Psa. 110:1-2)

Pattern of Dominion:

  • “So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” (Mk. 11:22-23)
  • “…be wise in what is good and simple concerning evil. And the God of Peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.” (Rom. 16:19-20)

The Psalmist declares, “Let the high praises of God be in their mouths and a two-edged sword in their hands!” (Psa. 149:6) Praise and Proclamation of the Word of God… these are the faith tools of our mouth. These are the weapons of our spiritual warfare! These essentials are the believers empowerment, because they cause the enemies of our soul to flee and establish God’s dominion in the Earth as it is in Heaven. God stands ready to enforce the victory He has already accomplished in Christ… Jesus  said “It is Finished!” and if we will simply speak the Word and stand in faith – He will do it!

“Rada” – Ruling as Kingdom Agents:

As Ambassadors of Heaven… this is our mandate as Kingdom Agents, to “Rule” - Rada {Hebrew} – in the midst of the enemies! We are laying hold of all that Christ has obtained and possessed for us. We are fruitful and multiplying, filling the earth and subduing it as Kingdom Agents advancing the Victory of God in Christ. We are not as those who shrink back, retreat or settle into a position of ease. It is our destiny to advance, because we have an anointing for increase and an assignment to make the very creation itself see its future in the light of God’s Purposes. And if God has established this pattern from the Garden of Eden, He will be with us.

“If God be for us, who can stand against us!” (Rom. 8:31)

Power of Persuasion: Part 2

“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” (Jn. 8:44)

Truth is… Reality from God’s Perspective!

Lies are Counterfeits:

Faith comes from hearing… lies also come from hearing, but not from the Words of God. Sadly, like faith; lies inspire actions… they “persuade” the listener to follow or behave in a certain way. Like faith, a lie requires that you pull from a source of information. People sacrifice for faith, because they know that they are choosing well. A sacrifice for a lie is a blind and foolish choice. It might feel like a right choice at the moment, but the difference comes in the harvest. Faith reaps something good, while a lie deceives and betrays our heart… bearing a heavy price. The quicker the lie is removed, the less damage it can cause.

The Heart of the Liar:

Liars, lie because they lack a foundation of Truth for their personal identity. They really do not know who they are. To lie is to pass on a false impression or hold out a false picture that others will believe to be reality.

Dens of Iniquity:

The environment of a liar is a den of iniquity, filled with falsehood, human logic and self absorbed reasoning. Anyone that deceives another person is exchanging the Truth of God for lies (Rom. 1:25). They are making agreement with darkness and releasing an atmosphere where all kinds of evil is allowed to have dominion. Those who receive liars and deceive, bring judgment upon themselves and their hearers (Rom. 1:18). Unrepentant liars have made a spiritual covenant with the devil to speak from his resources.

Remember – a Liar is “fathered” by lies!

Clarifying a Liar’s Heart:

  1. Lies are a cover for poverty. Lies numb us from an awareness of weakness or lack (Rev. 3:17). Lies are empty bricks in the foundation. When pressure is placed upon these hollow blocks, they will crumble. Building upon lies will lead to the spiritual structure falling.
  2. Lies forfeit the future. Lies cost us our integrity and our character. You cannot go deeper with God or man by living in lies. Life in honest relationship is a proving ground for promotion. Your future depends on your will and your success in walking in truth. Your gift may make room for you and bring you before kings (Prov. 21:6), but to stay in that room or stand on that platform requires character and integrity.
  3. Lies are built on outward appearances. Lies become all the reality liars possess. They pose and pretend, seeking approval from those of legitimate substance. Deceivers are hungry, but empty; because they cover up their lack rather than getting their needs met appropriately. Liars seek the acceptance of others like a moth to a flame. For a liar, to be in a church is to be “righteous”, like being in a garage makes a person a car. As silly as it sounds, appearances are the only reality the liar has, because they are the most deceived of all. Satan enters into the liars heart and takes dominion in order to destroy both the liar and those who will listen.

Discernment:

It takes the anointed eyes of Christ to see it happening, as Jesus saw it happen in Judas at their final Passover Meal (Jn. 13:27-28). The Apostle John told us to test the spirits to see if they are of God, because there were lying spirits in the world set on promoting evil and infiltrating the Church (1 Jn 4:1-6). The Apostle Paul said the days are evil and there are wiles of the devil that we must stand against in these days (Eph. 6:11-13).

Repentance and Truth – Set us Free (Jn 8:30-36)

Freedom in Truth:

Honesty is the beginning of recovery. Humbling oneself breaks the power of a lie. The preacher needs to get free from his own sin. The boss needs to stop robbing his employees. The husband needs to deal faithfully with his wife. Some can never stomach honesty, because they wait too long to try. We must all throw light upon lies, if they are to be removed … especially if those lies are our own (Jn. 3:19-21). We must commit ourselves to truth (Prov. 23:23).

Live in Truth!

This is a call for all followers of Christ, especially His leaders, to abandon the “father” of lies. We must thoroughly renounce and reject a lying spirit. We must handle the things of God in an open and honorable way (2 Cor. 4:2). Removing a lying lifestyle involves breaking covenant with the “father” of lies through prayer, discipline and loving the Truth.

“Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are His delight.” (Prov. 12:22)

We must hold ourselves accountable to the Truth!
We must fear God enough to yield our tongue to the Holy Spirit!
We must love God more than outward appearances!
