Expect from God

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Rom. 10:17)

The best resource you have is God’s current Word to you. I don’t think there is anything more important than hearing His voice and expecting His purposes to be fulfilled in your life. The recipe for growth as a disciple of Jesus is first – reading His Word and second – expecting it to manifest in your life.

Bible Results:

The Bible is guaranteed to produce results (Isa. 55:8-11). But what are they? Spiritual Expectation… FAITH! Biblical Truth comes directly from God and enlarges faith. It shapes the way we see and is “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16). What it does is produce a supernatural faith in the hearer. It shifts the hearer’s world view and sets new foundations for reality. I urge you – read the Bible for yourself! See for yourself. As a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit indwelling you in order to lead you in the truth. You have the very Author of the Bible right there with you to show you reality from God’s perspective.

Shifting into Expectation:

This is the believing process that offers spiritual transformation. When you and I are given the opportunity to see what God sees and hear as God’s Children, then we feel our natural perceptions shift. Our thoughts and understandings weaken to the overwhelming reality of Truth, “reality from God’s perspective”. Faith comes by hearing the Truth of the Word of God! Faith is a wonderful gift, given at the moment of revelation; and a powerful seed that grows as it is watered. Faith is all about believing what God says about us, not what others say. Faith inspires us to expect God’s love and power.

Expect the Best:

Expect God’s help, wisdom, strength and favor to increase… your future is not hinged to natural limitation when you allow the Word of God to touch your “expector”. You can expect your needs to be met! How can I be so sure… because God is not a liar! Want to learn more? Just pick up your Bible. Like a Divine Library, the Bible contains thousands of promises that are already yours!

Remember that God is faithful! Remember that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Nothing is impossible with God!

There is no limit to what God can do through His Word in you. Trust Him to provide abundant life (Jn. 10:10)!

Knowing God’s Favor

The Bible tells us that Abraham was known by God. Abraham saw the Lord and His angels. Once the Lord sent three of His angels to communicate His plans and share His purposes with Abraham (Gen. 18:1-3). When Abraham saw the angels he ran to meet them, bowed down and greeted them with these words,

  • “My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant.”

Abraham knew that the presence of angels meant access to God’s favor and the fulfilment of His Promise. God was bringing increase into his house, giving him a promised son and making him a blessing to the generations that would follow his example of faith.

Blessing and Favor:

There are some things that money cannot buy… one of them is favor. When God’s favor is on your life, wonderful things will happen to you and for you. Favor will take you where nothing else can take you. Favor can open doors and prevent calamity. Favor can help you do more with less. Favor can make a way where there is no way! The good news is that every Child of God who walks by faith is given access to favor. Favor is what makes the impact of a promise carry blessing for generations. God watches over His Word to perform it (Jer. 1:12)… because He watches over you.

Watching is Favoring:

God was watching over Abraham based upon the Promise He had made to bless Abraham and his descendants through Isaac (Gen. 17:19). Not only to Abraham; but God also spoke to Isaac personally to confirm this amazing favor. God promised Isaac that He would favor him in the same way that He had favored his father Abraham (Gen. 26:2-6). Blessing comes to Abraham and Isaac as an empowerment to prosper, because of God’s watchfulness and supernatural hand upon the Promises made. Blessing always goes hand in hand with favor. In order to be blessed by someone, you must first be favored by them.

And who better to be favored by… than God?!

Recognizing Favor:

You can recognize the favor by the blessing! Abraham was known as the wealthiest man in all the land. He exibited favor as a man of faith! As a spiritual descendant of Abraham and a Child of God, God has promised to favor you and bless you. When you embrace God’s Word; His principles and His wisdom, you will automatically find His favor as well. When you seek His mercy, kindness, and truth and reject and shut out all hatred, selfishness, deliberate hypocrisy, and falsehood, then you will not only find favor, but also good understanding and high esteem in the sight of God and man as well!

“When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” (Prov. 16:7)

God’s favor on your life translates into favor with man as well. Doors will open and opportunities will come. Blessings will run after you! Even sinners will say “yes” to you when they would have said “no” to everyone else. God will send His Spirit and His angels to cause favor to shine on you… from every direction and in all your ways.

Expect God’s favor to be on your life even as it followed Abraham… because faith in Christ activates the Promise! (Rom. 4:13-25)

Wings of Faith

“You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.” (Ex. 19:4)

When I think of eagle’s wings, I consider them to be parables of our ability to soar in faith. Faith is a heart issue… where we press into the Lord, while the winds of His Spirit lift us into flight. Notice that it was God who “bore the Hebrew people on eagle’s wings”. When we release our faith, we are vigorously exercising the wings that work by love (Gal. 5:6). Believing God’s Promises and trusting in His purposes engage our upward thrust. When we soar, its like we are setting our trust in the Lord and letting Him carry us amidst the surrounding terrain. Our perception is influenced by our altitude!

Soaring Transforms Vision:

Recently, I was praying about the concept of soaring with wings as eagles and I heard the Lord say, “I want you to abide in Me… and soar with Me!” Wow, this took me back for a moment, as I considered what that would do to my routine, my formulas and my personal agenda. Those weights and burdens would need to be left behind. Most important though, was that I discover the ultimate destination… God is bringing us to Himself! He wants me to see as He sees and soar with unhindered faith and victory!

Soaring Positions Us:

The eagle’s flight teaches us how to soar and not just fly. When catching the wind of the Holy Spirit, we gain the strength to soar. Getting weary and tired is natural, but soaring is supernatural. “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They shall mount up (or soar) on wings like eagles…” (Isa. 40:30-31). The Lord teaches us through hope, how to “mount up” and rise above difficulties and trials in our life. We learn the value of rising high enough to gain fresh perspective on what is below. The wings of faith position us in such a way as to allow our thrust to be quickened by trials, rather than hindered by them.

Soaring Renews Energy:

Sometimes I think we try too hard. We fight battles we don’t need to be fighting. When turbulence comes, God has a position for us – faith! Faith is the only position that offers a partnership… God Promises to lift us up! Perhaps we need to stretch out our wings, relax and allow God to help us glide on the “wind”. Soaring will remind us that even the wind obeys Him!

The Kingdom Lifestyle

The Be-attitudes are the Kingdom Lifestyle… the Kingdom Attitudes! (Mt. 5:1-12)

These are the things I’m aiming at… not because I need approval, but because they reflect a transformed reality within! I live from a position of approval!

  1. to be poor in spirit,
  2. sensitive about what touches the heart of God,
  3. embracing a spirit of meekness,
  4. hungering and thirsting for righteousness,
  5. offering mercy,
  6. walking in purity of heart,
  7. being a peacemaker,
  8. and having the courage to stand honorably in the midst of persecution!

Whether people revile me for my convictions or my testimony – I will choose to rejoice and be exceedingly glad. For My Great Reward is in Heaven awaiting me… with arms wide open!

The 8 Beatitudes:

These character traits are the evidence that a person’s life has truly been revived by God. They represent the “blessed” posture… the posture that hits the mark. Some versions translate the blessed posture as the attitude that is “happy” and carries a vibrancy of spirit. Its perhaps the most effective visible sign of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit! Being a “blessed person” – means that I’ve been empowered to succeed and prosper in the Kingdom. Its the key character traits of a disciple of Jesus.

  • It is the Kingdom Lifestyle – because it displays the transformation of the heart… defining love (Jn. 15:9) and spiritual maturity (Eph. 4:11-16).
  • It is the Kingdom Lifestyle – because it characterizes the anointing placed within an ambassador of Christ carrying out their mission… co-laboring with God in the Earth (Mt. 6:10)(Mt. 11:1-19).
  • It is the Kingdom Lifestyle – because it aligns the believing heart with Kingdom purposes… cooperating with God’s Grace (Mt. 5:19 & 48)(Rom. 5:1-5) and power (Acts 1:8).

Jesus said, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”  …and then it was within reach! (Mt. 4:17 & 4:23-25)

Vitality of Words

Is there anything “normal” about the spiritual realm?

The Kingdom of God should feel normal to the believing heart! Yet, when measured by human reasoning, its beyond comprehension. One law remains consistent in both the spiritual world and the natural world… All things; material and spiritual, are held together by the Word of God’s power (Heb 1:3). To say it another way; God sustains all things by using words that are released from His world- Heaven, into ours- Earth.

God sustains all things by using words!

For God, words are powerful and essential; like the connective tissue, the glue between two very different worlds. They are creative packages that hold His logic and purposes for life as He would want us to enjoy it… abundant and fruitful. He spoke the worlds into existence (Gen 1:3), He calls those things that are not as though they are (Rom 4:17) and He watches over His word to perform it (Jer 1:12). No matter how we perceive life’s experiences, His goal is for our good and not evil (Jer 29:11). In redemption, He has sent forth His Word to heal, forgive and revive the broken.

”The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and Truth” (Jn 1:14).

Our faith grows out of hearing the words of God, believing, knowing and experiencing the Word of God. Jesus explained, “The Spirit gives life, My words are spirit and they are life” (Jn 6:63). We all must come to the realization that as we live in agreement with God’s Word, all will go well.

God’s words are Spirit and Life!

David said, “Your words are a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Ps 119:105). Solomon encourages us to hear the Father’s voice, “My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to My words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and they are health to a man’s whole body” (Prov 4:20-23). What David and Solomon were saying, Jesus makes very clear when He faces the devil, “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Mt 4:4). Abiding in those words offers us the greatest freedom, because His words are Truth (Jn 8:31-32) from God’s perspective.
