Send the Rain

“Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain! Like the latter and former rain to the earth.” (Hosea 6:3)

“He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, like showers that water the earth.” (Psalm 72:6)

It is the cry of my heart… “Holy Spirit – send us the rain!” We are after Your refreshing! Your going forth is established as the morning… and we have awakened to the sound of Your Presence! Yes, Lord come to us as the rain! We are longing to see, waiting to know, postured to receive the abundance of Your resource. Like the sweet spring rains that fall on the meadow. Like the swift delouse that washes the atmosphere. We long for the great outpourings and the gentle drizzles alike. Its all about Your Glory, that we might experience Your heart.

A Life Source:

Rain has such a powerful influence on that which it touches. We can visually see its dual implication. First as refreshing – where there has been dryness and barrenness (Joel 2:23-29). Second, as restoration – where there has been loss (Isa. 28:11-12). Rain comes to replenish and renew everything it touches. Its longed for and anticipated, because its a life source that carries the earth into new seasons. Did you catch that… Rain initiates new seasons of life in the earth!

New Seasons of Fruitfulness:

The ”outpouring” Peter and the 120 disciples experienced at Pentecost (Acts 2:17) was not some abstract concept; it was the birth of a New Day! This was the literal evidence of “latter rain” that brought about a harvest and watered the earth for fruitful seasons. The Lord is saying to the thirsty that He will send rain! He will come like the rain to fields… to people that are totally barren as a promise of revival.

Personal Revival:

Needing to be refreshed doesn’t mean that we are lost or backslidden or that we have broken our fellowship in some way. When the lawn endures a hot season, it dries up and needs to be refreshed – only rain can truly nurture its recovery. In the day of natural drought, the earth cries out silently to be restored. When there is drought and barrenness of soul or when the evidence of weariness takes hold, it is with great anticipation that we cry out for the early and latter rains of heaven. There is no greater sight to the weary ones than the gift of refreshing… the rain of heaven!

Its the Resource of God in the Promised Land:

“For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden; but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year. And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.” (Deut. 11:10-15)

The Journey brings Deliverance

The first day of sessions in Uganda, Pastor Francis informed Ron that there were people and Pastors as far away as 200 Kilometers (125 miles).  Ron asked where they were all staying and Pastor Francis  informed Ron that people in his church left their homes and stayed with family to provide housing for these Pastors and that these Pastors were bunking on the floors.  Pastor Francis then explained that since there were so many Pastors, they had run out of room.  Ron asked where these Pastors were staying and Pastor Francis informed Ron that they were sleeping at night in the ditches so they could stay in the area and attend the conference.

Pastor Wafula (Ron) then  did an entire message on the Rain of Heaven. Telling the people that

Lake Victoria, Uganda

As we worship the atmosphere becomes so heavy with the weighty presence of God,  that the Rain of Heaven begins to fall down on us.

After speaking on this the Ugandans worshipped for hours after the message, and when Ron left they were still worshipping.

On one of the last days at “Pastor Francis’s” field Ron ended the session with prayer for healing.   There were more than 50 people crowding the front for healing.  Ron stopped and prayed for each one and finally came to a woman who was very ill.  As Ron began to pray demons began to manifest from her and it was very loud and disruptive, so Ron asked Pastor Francis to have some men help him take her to a seperate place.  The men carried this demon possessed woman to a seperate house while Ron continued praying for the sick.  When Ron finished praying for those at the altar he went to the house where the woman was.  Ron could hear the demons manifesting from outside of the house and went inside to pray for deliverance for this woman.  Ron immediately commanded the demons to stop, and be quiet in the name of Jesus, and they were.  He then told the demons to leave, and they did.  The woman slumped into Ron’s arms.  He held her and prayed over her, describing how much her Heavenly Father loved her, how precious she was to Daddy God, and she was SAVED!

That evening the tesimonies of God’s healing power were spoken over and over.  Following the testimonies the people gathered couldn’t help but worship, and as they worshipped, the rain of heaven fell again.

But the land into which you are about to cross to possess it, a land of hills and valleys, drinks water from the rain of heaven……….  Deuteronomy 11:11

Saturation Point

An Open Heaven Offers Rain

An Open Heaven Offers Rain

The Church was birthed in the rain… under an outpouring of the Holy Spirit’s Anointing!

The Apostle Peter speaks into the rain with a saturated message and 3,000 people got saved in a day (Acts 2:40-41).

Can I just say that it isn’t really about how clever our sermons might be or how well programmed we are in our services. Its all about whether we have reached our saturation point.

If we have a lot of God in our midst, then a lot of things take place! Today there is a youth movement being stirred by the Holy Spirit, that is shaking the nations, from youth groups to home fellowships and from street corners to college campuses… there is a fire for those authentic supernatural experiences as recorded in the book of Acts. Testimonies are being communicated that boggle the mind… of little groups of young people gathering to pray for the sick, willing to ask for the impossible and chasing about the countryside for “seasons of rain”.

On the platforms of many churches the professional folks are continuing to overlook the obvious while those without a formal pulpit hear the rain in the distance.

It feels like the days of Elijah, when at the Prophet’s heartfelt petition the drought was ended by a cloud the size of a man’s hand. I believe we are in for a deluge… and its time for all of us to display our thirst. Like dry and empty vessels, we need an outpouring that will completely fill us up. There have been seasons when we have experienced the sprinkles that brought renewal, but its the day of total saturation that will lead us into restoration. The longing of my heart is for the Body of Christ to reach its saturation point and come alive with the rain of Heaven.
