Expect from God

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Rom. 10:17)

The best resource you have is God’s current Word to you. I don’t think there is anything more important than hearing His voice and expecting His purposes to be fulfilled in your life. The recipe for growth as a disciple of Jesus is first – reading His Word and second – expecting it to manifest in your life.

Bible Results:

The Bible is guaranteed to produce results (Isa. 55:8-11). But what are they? Spiritual Expectation… FAITH! Biblical Truth comes directly from God and enlarges faith. It shapes the way we see and is “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16). What it does is produce a supernatural faith in the hearer. It shifts the hearer’s world view and sets new foundations for reality. I urge you – read the Bible for yourself! See for yourself. As a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit indwelling you in order to lead you in the truth. You have the very Author of the Bible right there with you to show you reality from God’s perspective.

Shifting into Expectation:

This is the believing process that offers spiritual transformation. When you and I are given the opportunity to see what God sees and hear as God’s Children, then we feel our natural perceptions shift. Our thoughts and understandings weaken to the overwhelming reality of Truth, “reality from God’s perspective”. Faith comes by hearing the Truth of the Word of God! Faith is a wonderful gift, given at the moment of revelation; and a powerful seed that grows as it is watered. Faith is all about believing what God says about us, not what others say. Faith inspires us to expect God’s love and power.

Expect the Best:

Expect God’s help, wisdom, strength and favor to increase… your future is not hinged to natural limitation when you allow the Word of God to touch your “expector”. You can expect your needs to be met! How can I be so sure… because God is not a liar! Want to learn more? Just pick up your Bible. Like a Divine Library, the Bible contains thousands of promises that are already yours!

Remember that God is faithful! Remember that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Nothing is impossible with God!

There is no limit to what God can do through His Word in you. Trust Him to provide abundant life (Jn. 10:10)!

Revealing His Glory

“This, the first of His miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed His Glory, and His disciples put their faith in Him” (Jn. 2:11).

“…a cloud came and overshadowed them: and they were fearful as they entered the cloud.” (Lk. 9:34)

“Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me, may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My Glory” (Jn. 17:24)

Jesus Reveals His Glory:

What are we seeing in these verses? What is it inside of us that shifts when we truly see the radiating splendor of God? Make no mistake the Glory of God is the key to igniting faith in the human heart!

In the New Testament we see that Jesus revealed His Glory in four major ways:
1. through His signs and wonders (Mt. 11:3-6),
2. through His revelation of the Father’s heart (Jn. 5:19-23),
3. through His transfiguration (Mk. 9:2-8)
4. and finally through His cross and resurrection (Rom. 6:4).

To behold His Glory was to see the essence of who He was… the express image of the Father - His Person (Heb. 1:3). Truly He upholds all things by the Word of His Power; and by way of His completed work in the Earth, He has earned His place at the right hand of the Majesty on High.

Beholding Transforms:

Beholding the Glory revealed in Christ affected His disciples so significantly that the Scripture tells us they couldn’t even talk about it (Lk. 9:32-36). That revelation became the birth place of their faith and all they understood was that they could never be satisfied without it.

Notice this rather odd request by James and John: they wanted to sit in His Glory, one of them at Jesus’ right hand and the other at His left… for all of eternity (Mk. 10:35). They were seeing something that transformed their understanding so deeply that they wanted it for all time.

Ah, But There’s More!

I believe that the more we see of the Glory, the more we want to see. It is inexhaustible! We see so much in Scripture, yet the Apostle John wrote, “there are also many other things Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose the world itself could not contain the books that would be written” (Jn. 21:25). Christ reveals the Father’s splendor, character and purpose that can never be seen any other way (2 Cor. 4:6). The lame, walking and the deaf, hearing; sickness and diseases being healed without the influence of a doctor; and demons, fleeing with only a word. The dead, raised at the sound of His voice and the living, transformed at the touch of His hands. How, you might ask? He continues to identify the Glory as the real source of His power (Jn. 11:40).

He would still say to us today, “if you will only believe you will see the Glory of God”.

John was clear about the impact of beholding His Glory… it was the reality of walking in the light (1 Jn. 1:7). Peter was clear about the experience… “joy unspeakable and full of Glory” (1 Pet. 1:8). Paul even prayed that the eyes of our understanding would be enlightened to the riches of the Glory of the inheritance among the saints, in Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:17). Does it not make you yearn like Moses…

“Lord – Please, show me Your Glory!” (Exod. 33:18)

Words that Break In

“Is not My word like a fire?” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock? (Jer. 23:29)

“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Heb. 3:15)

When the Word of God breaks in… it creates pathways for faith and advancement!

Recently I have been feeling the need to hear the Word of God on a completely different level. I want to hear with a depth of understanding that delivers and restores and brings revival to my heart. God’s Words offer supernatural impact to the soul of a man, because it shatters misconceptions. Jesus said, “truth will set you free!” Truth is who Jesus is! Truth is reality from God’s perspective! Knowing Him and allowing His voice to resonate in our mind will consistently change the way we see and think. There is nothing too big or too difficult for the Word of God to clarify and “shatter like a rock”… as Jeremiah says in the above verse. But it must first… break in to do it!

God Still Speaks Today!

He said, I AM the Lord your God, I change not! Faith is so important, because it gives us the ears to hear the voice of God. Faith is the most potent force in the entire universe. According to the Bible; taking God seriously by believing His Promises, provides: “power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing” (Rev. 5:12)… all of this comes through the breaking in of the Word of God.

God’s Voice Rests in His Words:

God’s voice carries weight. From thunder and lightning (2 Sam. 22:14) to the sound of His whisper (1 Ki. 19:12)… God’s voice is mighty. It makes the wilderness shake, breaks the cedars and calls the chaotic into order. God speaks and power is released… things are created, re-created, mobilized or stilled. It was His Word that He sent to heal the sick (Ps. 107:20), His voice that made the deer give birth (Ps. 29:9) and the recognition of His Name that raised Lazarus from the dead (Jn. 11:43). We must realize that every time God’s voice is heard something shifts in the atmosphere of both heaven and earth… purpose flows forth and power is released. Its as significant as when God commanded the Sun to stand still for Joshua (Josh. 10:12-13), decreed a healing for a Centurion’s servant (Mt. 8:8) or compelled a storm to become calm with just one word – “Peace” (Mk. 4:39). What makes His voice carry such weight is His Authority! He rules the universe at the sound of His voice and holds all things together; from the grandest mountain range to the smallest molecule, by the word of His power.

How does God Speak to Us Today?

  1. He speaks directly: As He spoke with Abram! (Gen. 12:1-3) “Come out of your father’s house, to a land that I will show you”
  2. He speaks through Scripture: As He spoke to Isaiah! (Isa. 34:16) “Search from the Book of the Lord and read…”
  3. He speaks through His Spirit: As He spoke to the waiting Disciples! (Acts 2:4) “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.
  4. He speaks as we minister to Him: As He spoke into the Early Church leaders! (Acts 13:2) “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said…”

Jesus assures us; that as the Holy Spirit had spoken to Him, so also the Holy Spirit would speak the will and purposes of God to us… if we would be willing to listen: “He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. …All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.” (Jn. 16:12-15)

The Apostle Peter tells us that believers have obtained a “like precious faith” (2 Pet. 1:1-4) …the same kind of faith that is alive in all who have trusted in Jesus. Faith offers supernatural grace and possibility to human frailty. These “faith people” are empowered with divine knowledge and become partakers of a divine nature. How? Through the Word of God that breaks in… past doubt and unbelief and lands upon the hearing ear and the receptive heart!

Jesus looked at our weakness and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!” (Mt. 19:26). By receiving, believing and declaring the Word of God over all that pertains to life and godliness – we walk in a victory given by God. We see the mountains fall, the valleys raised up and the impossibilities achieved… because of precious faith. There is power in God’s promises and there are Kingdom advancements made available by the works He has accomplished in Jesus!

And all we have to do is be found trusting, and the Words that break in; become activated… like “fire” or a “hammer” in our lives.

God is Speaking

“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Heb. 3:15)

God still speaks today. He said, I AM the Lord your God, I change not! Faith is so important to us, because it gives us that greater capacity to hear the voice of God. Faith is the most potent force in the entire universe. According to the Bible; taking God seriously by believing His Promises, provides everything for an abundant life… and the godliness we need to achieve it (2 Pet. 1:3-4): “power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing”  (Rev. 5:12). Faith offers supernatural grace and possibility to human frailty. Jesus looked at our weakness and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!” (Mt. 19:26).

“All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.”

Continuous Praise

“My mouth is filled with Your praise and with Your glory all day long.” (Psalm 71:8)

If your mouth is full of praise, then your life will be clothed in glory as well!

When you continually praise and worship the Lord from the heart, you will find it difficult to be critical and negative. Praise and thanksgiving transform the human reality by negotiating the atmosphere around us. There is spirit; realms of dominion, that when we set our hearts upon God, surround and cover us in Glory. Should we not prefer this atmosphere than all others?

The Spirit-filled life is a praise-filled life! The Scripture says, “Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Eph. 5:18-20)

Praise releases the life of God into your present reality, into your relationships and into your destiny. Praise releases the benefits of the New Covenant to you. Have you any need? Praise releases God’s victory into your situations and circumstances. Praise puts the angels to work!

When you’re in the midst of a test or trial… and heaviness and sorrow try to overtake you, remember that the joy of the Lord is your strength! (Neh. 8:10).

Put off the spirit of heaviness by putting on the garment of praise and you’ll walk in victory all of your days… beginning today! (Isa. 61:3).
